Patricia Guyer McCarthy

1932 - 2015

Patricia Guyer McCarthy passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at the age of 83. Service: 3 p.m. Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson's Harveson and Cole Funeral Home. Pat was born March 13, 1932, and raised in Springfield, Mass., one of five children. She attended the University of Massachusetts where she met the love of her life, Philip McCarthy Jr., who preceded her in death and with whom she is now reunited in heaven. With a husband and two young sons in tow, Pat went on to graduate from UMass. Upon graduation Pat and Phil spent the next 20 years as a Navy family, completing their family with seven sons. The last 10 years in the military were spent living in Washington, D.C. Upon Phil's retirement, Pat and Phil moved to Germany for seven years, returning to Fairfax Station, Va. In 1980, Pat returned to college and obtained an accounting degree. She spent the next 20 years working for H&R Block. Upon her retirement she moved to Fort Worth to be near five of her sons who had all gradually moved to the Fort Worth area beginning in 1979. Survivors: Sons, Francis, Kenneth, Thomas, Donald, Robert, John and Paul McCarthy; brothers, Martin and David; 22 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
