Paul was raised in Fort Worth and was a graduate of Trinity High School in Euless. He was a competitive swimmer and placed fourth in the Junior Olympics of 1978. Paul was a National Merit Scholar and was accepted to medical school after only two years at UTA. He was a member of AOA, an academic honors society in medical school and was a graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He did his training at Medical College of Virginia and served his residency at the Blackstone Family Practice in Virginia. Paul was a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practitioners and served as doctor for the day to the Texas state Legislature in 2003. He also was on the board of directors of the Texas Academy of Family Practitioners. A passion in Paul's life was serving others, such as being a medical missionary to Mexico and Nicaragua and locally at the free clinic. Other volunteer activities included the American Cancer Society, serving as team physician for the Fort Worth Brahmas and the Texas Rangers. Paul was a Cub Scout leader with Troop 35. He enjoyed the outdoors, carpentry and music, but first and foremost, he was devoted to and loved his family. Paul will be missed and loved by his family, friends and patients whom he served and loved.

Many thanks to all those who have forwarded such kind words of support and kindness. Our family continues to be buoyed by our faith And we know Paul, father & husband, is with us even now in spirit because to be seperated from the body is to be present with Christ. He will continue to be a an active, central part of our families life and the community he served by his legacy of service, love and dedication he emulated for all those he met.

To the Erickson Family. I am sorry for your loss. Judy is such a caring person that I can only imagine what an example her big brother Paul must have set for her. In It's a Wonderful Life, the Angel says, the good people leave such a hole in the lives of others when they are no longer there. Hoping that God's love and the love of your family and friends helps you at this time.

Dr. Erickson made me feel so good about being a fellow physcian. He was a Good Christian man and a caring, exellent doctor. I loved to hear his stories and learn form his wisdom. His encouraging words ring in my ears many a day, even when things are not so good. I thank God for him and his dedication.
My prayers are for his family now, because I know he already has made a home for himself and them in Heaven.
God Bless and keep everyone of you!

Our prayers are with you, and your family. Just remember the poem about the two sets of footprints in the sand. The only set of footprints that you will ever see are God's, because He has, and always will be carrying you.
