Paul Frantz Obituary

Paul Howard Frantz

October 19, 1950 - August 20, 2024

Fort Worth, Texas - Paul Howard Frantz passed away on the morning of August 20, 2024, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. His beloved wife of 38 years and his daughters were at his side. Paul was born on October 19, 1950, in Fort Worth, Texas to Howard J. and Loraine Reed Frantz. He was a member of the Class of 1969 from Southwest High School, and a graduate of Texas Tech University.

Upon graduation, he returned to Fort Worth where he worked for Blackmon Mooring and then joined his mother at Frantz & Co. as a realtor. The rest of his career was dedicated to working in all aspects of the housing and sales fields.

Paul was so loving and so well-loved. While some people collect stamps or coins or works of art, Paul collected friends. Friends he's known since grade school, his Kossack buddies at Paschal and Southwest, his SAE brothers from Tech, his Unity family, his Silver Sneakers family, and the countless other friends he made along his way.

Everyone seems to agree that no matter where he went, he always ran into someone he knew (even if he didn't know them until he ran into them). He liked people, all types of people, and they all liked him. He was funny and good-natured. His humor and kindness will be missed by so many.

Above all else, Paul loved his family. He leaves behind his 'girls', his wife, Sherry Minor Frantz, and his daughters, Katherine Smith and Sarah Frantz. He also leaves behind his two sisters, Carol Louise Shiery and husband, Daryl, and Christi Maurine Townsend and husband, Larry, and his brother, Chris Reed Frantz and wife, Naomi. He has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special loved ones, who are going to miss him dearly. Paul will forever be remembered as one of the best. The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life in November.

Paul gave my best friend, Sherry, a wonderful marriage which she deserved. He was a great partner for my dear friend, and a father to his two girls. The whole family loved him, his humor and tenacity. I am sorry he has left planet earth, but those who knew him can cherish their memories of him. We'll miss him.

The first impression of Uncle Paul was that he was absolutely hilarious. He was sick when I first met him and yet his sense of humor and the smile in his eyes told me everything I needed to know. This wasn´t a man that would be taken down easily. And here we are 10 years later, missing him and loving him. What a joy-filled life! So grateful to have gotten to be part of his life. I will never forget his laugh, his (in my opinion) thick Texas accent and the goodness of his heart. He was a truly authentic guy. We will take good care of your girls, Uncle Paul. Thank you for your life, you made the world a better place.
