Peggy Scott Obituary

Peggy Ann Carter Scott

October 22, 1928 - December 7, 2023

Fort Worth, Texas - Peggy Ann Carter Scott, 95, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023.

Graveside: 11a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, at Greenwood Memorial Park with Reverend Robyn Michalove of First Presbyterian Church, Fort Worth officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials may be donated to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.

Peggy was born in Fort Worth Oct. 22, 1928, the eldest of four sisters. She graduated from Paschal High School (as did her husband and five children) before attending TCU. She first met Claude at the age of 14 and they married June 27, 1947. Peggy and Claude were married 72 years before his death in 2019. She found joy as a wife and mother of four sons and a daughter and took pride in her role as a full-time homemaker. With her nurturing spirit, she was always there with a smile, a hug and a serene presence. A pillar of strength and a source of wisdom.

All who knew Peggy were aware of her dedication to her God, family, and friends. A member of First Presbyterian Church, she was an active woman of faith who shared her gifts by serving as an Ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church, Session Moderator of Membership, TCU Student Outreach, Mother's Prayer Group for Deployed Soldiers, Sunday School Teacher, Moderator of the Women of the Church, Bible Leader, Archivist, 27-year Member of the Church Choir, Volunteer at the Presbyterian Night Shelter, All Saints Hospital and leader of Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls.

She and Claude loved traveling. Some of their favorite trips were to Hawaii, London, and Scotland. But most of all she cherished their family summer vacations spent in Red River, New Mexico. They were also dedicated sports fans supporting their Texas Rangers and TCU Horned Frogs.

As she became a grandmother and was blessed with each grandchild and great-grandchild, she nurtured, loved and cared for them in the same way as her own children. Her home was always filled with love, music and a lot of laughter. Her legacy of joy, family and faith passed on to yet another generation. She will be dearly missed even as she remains in our hearts forever.

The family would like to thank Peggy's caregivers of CareBuilders at Home and VITAS Hospice for their loving care.

Peggy was preceded in death by husband of 72 years, Claude T. Scott; parents, Marian and Earl Carter; sisters, Evelyn Carter Stewart and Earline Carter McBride; and grandson, Peter Andrew Scott.

Peggy is survived by sons, C.T. Scott, Jr., and wife, Julie of Fort Worth, Carter Scott and wife, Juli, of Marble Falls, Ark., John Scott and wife, Beverly of Austin, Robert Scott and wife, Ruth Ann of Dallas; daughter, Carol Maness and husband, Mark of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Sharon Scott, Brian Maness, Stephanie Andrews, Daniel Scott, Emily Boydston, Lauren Philyaw, Caroline Maness, Hillary Morgan, Bobby Maness and Madi Samra; great-grandchildren, Olivia Maness-Wood, Camille Scott, Madelyn Duncan, Findlay Andrews, Cameron Boydston, Penelope Maness, Scarlett Duncan, Parker Maness, Bailey Boydston, Harlow Maness and Madi Samra; sister, Sally Sue Carter Moore and husband, Gary of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; cousins, nieces and nephews.
