Penny Becan Obituary

Penny Becan, 57, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at her home in Fort Worth. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 1201 S. Cherry Lane. Visitation: 6 p.m. Sunday and rosary 7 p.m. Sunday in Greenwood Chapel. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations to St.Peter's Catholic Daughters, St.Peter's Food Bank or the TCU Catholic Community may be sent in her name. Penny was born Nov. 8, 1954, in Havelock, N.C. Her father, Maj. Robert Green, was a career Marine, and Penny had fond memories of life on the Marine base. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters at St.Peter's, and worked at St.Peter's food bank and prayer line. Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Verdelle; sister, Patricia Barczykowski; and brothers, Rick and Michael. Survivors: Husband, Bernard Becan; sister, Pamela Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

I remember Penny loving her frogs and her TCU frogs. I will miss her.

Penny was a dietetics student of mine at Tarrant County College many years ago. I am sorry to learn of her passing. I had great admiration for her "can do" attitude toward any challenges.
