Preston Holman Obituary

Preston Ray Holman, 22, a senior at Texas Tech University, passed away due to an apparent seizure Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016. Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy., Arlington. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Wade Family Funeral Home. Memorials: We ask that any gifts in Preston's memory be made to the Arlington Salvation Army, Tarrant County College Foundation, Mission Arlington or Trinity United Methodist Church sports ministry. Preston was born May 3, 1994, at North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills to Dixon Ray Holman and Lisa Bell Holman. He was a resident of Arlington for his entire life. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He was loved beyond description and returned his love in kind. The void his loss leaves in the lives of those who loved him, especially his family, cannot be measured and can't be adequately described in words. He was a special, special guy with a heart as large or larger than his physical presence. He attended Ditto Elementary, Young Junior High and was a 2012 graduate of Arlington Martin High School. From kindergarten through his graduation from high school, Preston didn't miss a single day of school except one while in the second grade to attend the funeral of his great-grandmother. He was a bright, charismatic and accomplished student who enjoyed his academic challenges as much as he enjoyed his classmates, teachers and friends. As a child, Preston was involved in Boy Scouts, he loved to swim, fish, run, sing and laugh. That is also when he began to participate in athletics, playing football, basketball, soccer and baseball. He most loved football. In high school, Preston played for the Martin Warriors and as a senior he started at defensive tackle where he earned honorable mention all-district honors as a member of MHS's district championship team, which reached the 6A quarterfinals in 2011. Upon graduation from high school, Preston enrolled at Hardin-Simmons University where he continued his football career. In 2013, he transferred to Texas Tech University where he was currently a senior majoring in public relations at the College of Media and Communications. He was involved in several student organizations and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He loved his red heeler dog, Ranger, who was with him to the end. We will love and care for Ranger. He loved high school, college and pro football, especially the Martin Warriors, Texas Tech Red Raiders and his Dallas Cowboys. He loved to work out. Most importantly, he loved and was so loved in return. Preston will NEVER be forgotten, though we hope that our acute sadness and sorrow may someday be. Our hearts are broken, but our lives would have not have been complete without having had him with us even for such a short time. "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to me moved."--Psalm 55:22 Preston was preceded in death by his grandmother, Doris Bell, and his grandfather, Dixon W. Holman. Survivors: Parents, Lisa and Dixon R. Holman; brother, Dixon J. Holman, his wife, Kristen, and their son, Dixon W. Holman II; sister, Melissa Bruce and her husband, Daniel; grandfather, J. Ardis Bell Sr.; grandmother, Sharon G. Holman; aunts, uncles and cousins, J. Ardis Bell Jr. and daughter, Madison, Melody Bell Fowler and husband, Larry, and their son, Brennan, Mary Claire Holman Sullivan and husband, Kelly, and their children, Sydney, Reagan and Stone, Britt Bell and wife, Nancy, and children, Alicia and Landon, Greg Bell and wife, Shelley, David Bell and wife, Elizabeth, and children, Whitley and Ashtyn.

Dixon,

Bart Thompson just told me of Preston's passing.

As you may recall, Jane and I lost Jonathan 15 years ago; we found our way to peace and acceptance of the Lord's will, and pray for the same for you and your family.

If we can be of support to you in any way, please let us know. We are sorry for your loss.

Dixon and Lisa,

Shocked and saddened beyond words by this. I will keep in my heart the memories of Preston when he was just a little boy playing with his siblings and my son Zach at the Ballpark at Arlington back in the late 90s. Those were fun and simpler times for us all. He was so full of life and enthusiasm! Such a great kid and young man. He will be missed.
