Priscilla Harris Obituary

Priscilla Sawtelle Harris went into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKinney Memorial Bible Church. Interment: private.
Honorary pallbearers: Brenda Correll, Betty Pennington, Grace Crapitto, Jan Newman, Sherry Clark Cook, Gwen Hartley and Sally Winfrey.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorials be made to Stem Cell Research, in care of Dr. James Willerson, 6720 Bertner Ave. (MC4-160), Houston, Texas 77030; or Kids Across America, 1429 Lake Shore Drive, Branson, Mo. 65616.
Priscilla was born Nov. 23, 1945, in Corsicana and raised in Houston, where she attended St. John's School until the 11th grade. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin. Later, she returned to Houston, where she worked as a travel agent until she met and married her husband, Ray.
A loving wife, mother, sister and remarkable friend, Priscilla will be remembered by all for her unparalleled generosity and gentle acts of kindness. For example, each time she saw service men and women in restaurants, she paid for their meals anonymously. She always said, "Nothing in my life was worth more to me than my family and special friends. In short, the Lord put me on this earth so they could touch my life and fill it with love and joy. They did a great job. I was truly blessed."
Special thanks go to Dr. James Willerson and his nurse, Mae, from the Texas Heart Institute for giving her extra years, to the McKinney Prayer Ministry, to Sue from Dr. Tobey's office and to all my family and friends for being there for me.
Survivors: Her husband of 30 years, Ray; son, Flint Harris and his wife, Rebekah; stepchildren, Ray Harris Jr. and his wife, Pam, and Haley Calisher and her husband, Dan; stepgrandchildren, Anne Caroline and John Philip Harris and Evan and Mimi Calisher; sister, Caroline Nance; loving aunt, Mary Alice Sawtelle; and many nieces and nephews.

What a gift of joy she had. Cilla brought light to any room she entered. I am saddened by her passing, but overjoyed that she is face to face with the One she loved the most. I look forward to worshipping Jesus before His throne with this sweet cousin of mine.

Mr. Harris, Flint and the Rest of the Harris Family: I grew up with Flint, and truly thought the world of Mrs. Harris. She was an utterly kind woman, who had such a presence that made all around her do nothing but smile. Please know that she will be missed by me as well as the rest of my family that she had touched. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Elizabeth Bass Frenzel

Ray,
My heart was deeply saddened to learn that Cilla has physically left us, but her memory will live on in you, Flynt, the rest of the family, and those of us who had the privilege to know her personally. No matter what was going on with her personally, she was always upbeat and positive, and I always considered it an honor that I was allowed to keep your dog, that one time. My love, prayers, and heart are with you.

I just found out through my daughter, Kimberly (Berry) Link, about the passing of Cilla. My memories of her go back many years ago when I had the pleasure of knowing her and her sister, Caroline and their parents when they lived in both Houston and Lakeway. They will always remain wonderful memories. I send my sincerest and deepest sympathy to all of her family and many friends on the loss of such a beautiful person in their lives. May God bless each and every one of you during this difficult time.
