Ramona Davenport Obituary

Our beloved sister, Ramona Kay Reece Davenport, passed on to her Six Sisters Ranch in heaven Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007.
Mona was born in Indiana in April 1958, the daughter of Alta Geraldine "Gerry" Grimes Reece. She grew up in Abilene, graduating from Abilene High School in 1976. She was a free spirit who lived in several places during her adult years, including Austin and Arlington, finally landing in Boerne in 2004.
She felt such a bond with the Hill Country, including Luckenbach where she spent many laid-back, happy hours listening to music and visiting with friends. She had just bought a small place of her own, which she called Six Sisters Ranch, outside Sisterdale, and was getting ready to settle into it when God called her home.
Mona absolutely loved her family unselfishly and always looked forward to times spent together camping, fishing or celebrating special occasions in this big extended clan of ours. She was a friend and mentor, particularly to all her nieces and nephews. She treasured being in the outdoors and appreciated all animals, especially her four doggy girls.
Her 49 years with us were too short, and we miss her strong, stubborn spirit and her generous, supportive and reliable nature. Always willing to share, never one to boast, she leaves us missing her terribly already. Wherever she is, God is and all is well!
Our family would like to thank VistaCare Hospice of Kerrville, and the many, many co-workers and friends â€"- not only of Mona's, but of the whole family's -- whose prayers and support meant so much to Mona and to all of us.
Survivors: She leaves behind a beautiful daughter, Kristy; granddaughter, Maya; sisters, Donise, Roxanne, Elizabeth, Melody and Melissa; brothers, Monte and Stephen; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews.

Mona, you've been on my mind again lately. I thought I'd share one of your prettiest pictures ever, even though you usually tried to hide from the camera, wherever we were. I hope you're still adventuring and enjoying yourself, Over Yonder.
Love you forever!

I have searched off/on for you for more than ten years; you have been on my mind or in the back of my mind for so long....and now I find that you are gone and yet were so close to me the whole time - Kerrville, TX - who would have thought we would wind up here? You were truly my bestest friend; always there with a smile, laugh and shoulder to lean on. May you be blessed as you rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior. May you know how much you are loved even still. Be at peace.
always,
Wanda Farmer Stephens

Mona you sure are missed and will be so missed on the trips to Luckenbach and party-ing on the back porch in Boerne. I'll never forget just 2 months before you left us here, we were hiking around your new property. I will always remember our good times and enjoy reliving them in the wonderful memories I have with you. Your dogs will be taken care of and your spirit will be alive with all of us for the rest of our lives here on this earth. Hopefully, after that, we'll all be together resting in peace and beauty. Love ya like a Sister, I'm sorry you had to go so soon. Thank you for your smile, your unconditional love that you gave to so many, big hugs, many laughs, your kindness, serving as our designated driver, and your natural free spirit. See you later.
