I grew up with Ray and Jay and saw both of them on occasion through the years. I was shocked to hear of Ray's untimely passing only two weeks after I last spoke to Ray, having an opportunity to visit with Ray, Sandy and Jay for about half an hour. One of my best memories was how protective Ray was of my romance with my girlfriend, Claudia, now my wife of 55 years. He would look after my interest in Claudia while he was attending TWC with Claudia as I was then attending UT Arlington. Any would be suitors had to go through Ray to approach my girlfriend. No friend could have been more loyal always looking out for me and having an encouraging word.

Ray hired me as a first year teacher. He took me to room 14 and said, "Teach them something." He would stop by from time to time, offering advice and encouragement. He insisted I get my masters degree and arranged my schedule so I could leave 7th period and drive to the university. He encouraged me to talk to the new speech path he had just hired. I ended up marrying her. Ray was like a second dad to me. My nine years with him along with another science teacher (Darr man) were the best teaching days of my life. A ton more I could say. God blessed my life with Ray Thompson.

So very sad to hear of Ray's passing. I knew Ray and Jay since they were in elementary school and had many good memories of being a part of Ray's life. We worked in youth groups and played on junior Church softball league together as well as attended Haltom High School at the same time. In all those years I was never able to identify Ray from Jay with surety. I had the privilege of spending about a half hour with Ray, Jay and Sandy in late October of 2022. I viewed Ray with great respect for the way he conducted his life in the community and at Church. I pray God's blessings on Sandy and family as well as Jay and his family in such a difficult time. Ray was always one of the best! Everyone recognized him as a leader everywhere he went; He was well liked by everyone he came in contact with in the schools and the public. I never met or heard of anyone who didn´t respect him. He was a very good man.

Ray hired me for my very first assistant principal job at North Richland MS. We spent 10 years together and I was so blessed to be lead by such a great man! He truly loved the kids and wanted the best for them and for all of his staff. As the years past we remained friends and he never hesitated to help me out with a car, boat, weed eater or even some new plants from his yard. He will surely be missed by many. Praying for his sweet family during this difficult time.
