Richard Tarvin Obituary

Richard Elisha Tarvin III, also known by his Creek name, Richard Two Wolves, and his clown name, Klem Kabooshoppr, passed to the other side on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015. He was 68 years old. Memorial service: Noon Wednesday at Thompson, Harveson & Cole. Memorials: Children's Fund at Creek Nation, P.O. Box 580, Okmulgee, Okla. 74447, or the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, 101 Pro Rodeo Drive, Colorado Springs, Colo. 80919. Known to his family and friends as Rick, he grew up on the North Side and graduated from North Side High School in 1965. He attended TCU and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. In 1967, he graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington Clown School. He clowned at rodeos until injured and then clowned at Children's Church at Bethel Temple and St. Teresa's Home. He believed, "If you ain't having fun, you ain't living." Rick believed the scriptures and purposed to follow the teachings to feed the hungry, house the homeless and clothe the naked. Because of his beliefs, he never voted for a Republican. Rick was one of those few people that would literally make your side ache when you were laughing with him. Have many fond memories of him from J.P. Elder Jr. High. Sorry that we didn't keep up with each other since then. My condolences to his family. Good guy!

My heartfelt condolences to the Tarvin family. For over fifty years Rick was a touchstone of my North Side days. His exploits were legendary and stories (both real and exaggerated) made for many a fun evening's conversations. It hurts to lose someone so close; like James Taylor wrote "But I always thought that I'd see you again."
Rick, wherever you are, the thrill isn't gone - it's there whenever I think of you.

Rick lived his life to the beat of his own drum. He was a great neighbor and friend for many many years. He was especially fond of our female company and had an uncanny knack for knowing they were at our home and would promptly come over to say is hello's, often with a flower or gift for the visitor. We had many laughs, great meals and visits at the drive thru(he cut a section of our fence out so we could visit)! May you rest in peace my friend. Our love to Eli and all the family.

My most sincere condolences to Mrs. Tarvin, aka "little boy's mother", Karon and family.
Seems like 100-years ago, but he was the first friend I had when we moved to Fort Worth in early 50s.
A lot of memories. Playing baseball between our houses; throwing mud-balls against Mr. Elmore's freshly painted two-story garage apt; playing "two lonesome" cowboys on stick horses (even had a song). Yeah, lot of memories.

Having attended Sam Rosen Elementary with Rick and then North Side High School (and having a crush on him at least a couple of times), I was happy to become reacquainted with him during the 2005 NSHS reunion. Rick later sent me writings (most written by him, some by others) to, as he stated in a note, reveal my heart . . . Rick had a beautiful heart and spirit! One of the writings he sent me was . . . the eulogy I am doing for my funeral. I wish I could be at his service to hear this read, but I will be there in spirit. Rest in peace, Richard Two Wolves. Love, Dena
