Dearest Carlye,

My heart breaks at your loss. I have such special poignant memories of you, your siblings, and your parents that stretch back a lifetime...before Rob was born. My sister Leslie and brother David join me in deepest condolences and share your sorrow. Though life is so fragile, love is timeless and everlasting. The depth of grief cannot surpass the depth of love. Amor Vincit Omnia (Love conquers all) I hope your heart finds peace knowing Rob is beyond all heartache and is in the midst of perfect love. You, Jerry, Dace and the rest of your family will stay in my prayers always. Love, Donna

Jerry, Carlye, and Dace,

Rob...the big kid we all wanted to be. The guy who held all of us younger kids on the block in awe with his magic, his smile, and his easy way of being so cool. I can't imagine me without Jonathan... Heather without Brad, Missy without Amy, Ryan without Ty, Erin without Andy. Dace, I am so sad that Rob had to be the first to go. May he remind us all how blessed we are to have a sibling.

I love you all,

Julie

I will always remember Rob from our days in the band at Martin. He was an excellent jazz performer and I will remember him as the trumpet player with the soul. He knew how to make his trumpet sing - a talent that could not be taught by any teacher, but truly came from Rob himself. May you fill the heavens with your music, Rob.

I have nothing but tremendous memories of playing in our high school band with Rob. There were many moments when the tension from the Band Director could be cut with a knife, but more often than not, it was eased with numerous laughs from Rob's trademark humor.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Rob was the guy that you couldn't help but like. Most people knew him, some better than others, but he provided a link amongst us all. He truly was the guy with the smile that never quit. We'll all miss you Rob, and will keep our memories of you close.

I will always remember Rob as that happy-go-lucky guy in the Maroon Adidas sweatsuit. I have hours of video tape of he and I from our Jr. High days - some just sitting on the couch talking about life, others making silly skits. No matter what we did, Rob always made me laugh.

I'll never forget you Rob. Rest in peace my friend.

From my family, to yours, our condolences...

One of my first memories with Rob (besides bathing together as babies) was when he was practicing magic in the garage. I had chosen to be the one he levitated, and while standing behind a curtain, holding the board I was laying on, he dropped the board, and I slid to the garage floor...It hurt at the time, but a memory I always look back and smile upon...I always thought that Rob was handsome, and had a winning smile...

He will be missed..Our thoughts & prayers are with you both, and with Dace.

Love, Jackie & Clay & Linda

My precious memories of Rob go back 23 years - I'll always remember him smiling. I had great times with him in class, drama, & at the skating rink. His laugh was contagious & I was always drawn to his friendship. I feel a hole in my heart knowing he's not here. May God's face shine brightly on his family. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

Robin Rust (Roughton)

February 17, 2002

Rob was my first "boyfriend" (if that's what you want to call it in the 6th grade!) and my first kiss. I always thought he was such a charmer and such a gentleman. I haven't seen Rob in a long time, but as Jon Hoffman said, I'm sure I'll see him again. Let's not say "goodbye" but "see ya later."

Love, Robin, John, Stephanie, and Jack Rust

Rob was my first friend when I moved to Arlington in the 2nd grade. I was a scared new kid in the neiborhood and met Rob the first day I moved in. Rob treated me like he had known me all of his life and made me an instant friend. I have fun memories of growning up with Rob and Brett Haugh and Brad Hafley and Ronald Denheyer and Tye Barnett and of course "Dace the Face", as Rob would call him! I remember that Rob always wanted to be a magician. My dad always liked to tease Rob, the novice magician, and nicknamed him "The Kitchen Magician" since that is the only stage he had had!

I remember that Rob loved to laugh and have fun and was a tremendous musician.

I have not seen Rob in a long time, but one day we can laugh together and do goofy magic tricks together, and Rob will be my first friend when I get to Heaven.

God bless you Rob,

Jon, Lisa, Jacob and Leah Hoffman
