Robert Ashcroft Obituary

Robert G. "Bob" Ashcroft, 88, a retired postal superintendent, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at home.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at Cotten-Bratton Funeral Chapel. Burial: Poolville Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ashcroft was born Dec. 19, 1913, in Weatherford and was a lifelong resident of Parker County. He graduated from Weatherford High School in 1930 and Weatherford College in 1932. He retired as superintendent of mails from the Weatherford post office in 1966 and served as veterans service officer until 1976. He was a World War II veteran, serving overseas in France and Germany.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Poolville and a member of American Legion Post 163 and VFW Post 4646 and was a disabled veteran. He was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Survivors: Wife, Carolena Ashcroft of Poolville; stepsons, Kermit Smith and wife, Jan, and Foster SMith and wife, Anne, all of Poolville; sister, Carol Ann Wheat of Pharr; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
