Robert Davis Obituary

Robert H. Davis, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven on Sunday, June 14, 2009.
Graveside service: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Memorials: Christ Chapel Bible Church.
Robert was born June 8, 1921, in Fort Worth. He graduated from North Side High School. Throughout his junior high and high school years he gained expertise in the business world as a sales representative for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Robert met the love of his life, Alice Jean Cole, in Houston where they fell in love at first sight. They married March 21, 1942, in Houston and moved to Fort Worth in 1944 where they lived the rest of their lives.
Bob, along with Alice Jean, founded Bob Davis Fence Company in 1946. Together they operated Bob Davis Fence Company until their retirement. Bob was known for his integrity and hard work in the Fort Worth business community.
Bob's greatest passions in life were his beloved sweetheart, Alice Jean, and his faith in Christ. He had a great love for his family, including his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Spending time at his ranch in Lipan, snow skiing in Colorado and fishing on the Gulf Coast were some of his favorite pastimes.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Jean Davis; son, Robert R. Davis; and son-in-law John L. Rounsaville Jr.
Survivors: Daughter, Sandra Davis Rounsaville; sons, Billy B. Davis and wife, Shelly, Mark H. Davis and wife, Sharon; daughter-in-law, Jean Davis King; nine cherished grandchildren; and six precious great-grandchildren.

Billy,
I remember spending time at your home our senior year of high school. Your parents were gracious and hospitable to our group. You will be in my prayers. I know you will miss him greatly.

Sandy, Mark, and Billy,
My husband "Dubby" and I worked for your parents about 50 years ago. Today I was remembering your parents and the things they did that touched our lives.
Glen Curry was an employee of Bob Davis and our cousin. When Glen's son died, your Mom and Dad gave them money and brought sacks of grocries to their house. My husband had a hunting accident and was off work for quite a while. When we were down to nothing your Dad sent us a check that kept us from borrrowing money to survive.
Your Dad's example greatly influenced my husband, who was only 15 yrs. old when he started working Bob Davis Fence Co. When we started our fence company the things your Dad instilled in my husband helped to make us successful and gave us a reputation that carried us through the years until we retired.
Your Dad will be missed by all who knew him. Our prayers are with your family.
