Fort Worth, Texas - Robert D. "Bobby" Murray passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022 in Fort Worth. .
Funeral is at noon, Wednesday, January 11th, Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth,
Bobby graduated from Jacksboro High School then attended TCU on a football scholarship from mid 1950 to 1959. He earned a degree in Education and began coaching and teaching in Fort Worth. He subsequently earned a Masters Degree from Tarleton State University. Bobby taught, coached and was Vice Principal at Western Hills High School, Northside High School, and Eastern Hills High School. He retired after serving more than 30 years with Fort Worth ISD.
Although he loved his education career, his true passion was hunting and fishing. He was a true fishing legend. While at TCU he was a fishing guide on Toledo Bend Lake during the summers. At the time of his death he was the oldest living member of the Fort Worth Anglers Club. He fished many local fishing circuits as well as fishing years of the Texas Bass Fishing Association annual tournament being named "Legend of Texas State Bass Tournament" with his name to remain in the Texas State Bass Fishing Tournament Hall of Fame on March 4, 2001.
Bobby is survived by wife Lou Ann Murray, son Mark Murray and wife Eileen, stepson Steve Siebenthall and wife Pam, stepdaughter Lana Steblay and husband Dan, stepdaughter Becky Pruitt and husband Ronnie, brother Richard Murray and wife Anita, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grand children.
He was a passionate TCU Frog and was so excited to watch the game Saturday but passed a few hours before kick-off. His family has no doubt that his spirit was at the game with the best seat in the stadium, helping to coach them on to Victory. We Love and miss you very much.

Mr Murray was the kindest man I´ve ever met In 1981-1982 Eastern Hills High School, A story I can share with his family and all. I was a nerdy kind of kid, but I was being bullied by some kids that was a lot bigger than I was. I had no idea Mr. Murray was watching these bad guys for months harassing me. Finally one day I had enough, so I reacted to them and put one of the guys on his back side. I was so scared that I had broken the rules of no fighting in school. Principal Murray called me into his office and said these kind but long lasting words. Son, he said, we a raccoon or animal finally gets backed into a corner, they have a right to protect themselves. He said yes you Brock the schools rules but not the rule of being right. Back then the school system allowed paddling with a wooden paddle, so he said I want you to walkouts of here like I paddle you, but you don´t deserve it. He said keep doing good and I´m proud of you as a student. He asked me not to tell what happened, but I just had a dream today 8-9-2025 about his kindness, and Google him to see if he was still around. I found his obituary by a good dream of kindness. Mr. Murray kindness made me into the good man and a generous man with my time and my financial fortunes. I hate I did not know about his passing, but I finally found out. God Bless this Good Man! I was a student at North Side High School. I really enjoyed the American history class that Coach Murray taught. Never a dull day. He always was a fair teacher and made learning fun. I´ll always remember him and the interesting topics we discussed. So sorry for your loss.

Bobby loved Hunting and Fishing more than any man I´ve ever known.....and he was among the best at both. We fished from Alaska to the Saltwater of Texas and I cherish every minute we spent together.
