Graveside service: Private in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Funeral Home.
Robert was born June 7, 1923, in Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Sapien, and a daughter, Sally Alvarado.
Survivors: Sons, Robert Sapien Jr., Michael Sapien and Daniel Sapien; daughters, Eva Mejia and husband, John, Rosa Sapien, Victoria Herrera and husband, Vincent, and Annette Vaughan and husband, Don; grandchildren, Michelle Wilkerson and husband, Steve, Brandon Mejia and wife, Colleen, Melissa Johnson and husband, Micah, Melinda Wright, Robert Sapien III, Crissy Cisneros and husband, Ricky, Vincent Paul Herrera, Adam Herrera and Angelica Vaughan; and great-grandchild, Cianna Cisneros.

My heart goes out to all of you. My dad, Cipriano Sapien, Sr., says that Robert is his first cousin; however Dad had a stroke, so it's difficult for him to keep some family strains straight. My mom just passed away, and the grief is great so I know what you're going through. My prayers are with you, that God grant you peace and comfort. ---Rose Hernández

I am very sorry for your loss. Mr Sapien was always a joy to be around. I loved to sit next to him and tease him and watch him laugh. I will never forget the way he would smile and shake his cane at me. I will miss him.
