Robert Standlee Obituary

Robert Graves Standlee, 84, of Houston died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013. He passed away after a long battle with cancer. Graveside service: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery in Fort Worth. Bob was born March 1, 1929. He graduated from Handley High School in Fort Worth in 1947 and received a BBA from the University of Texas in 1951. After serving in the U.S. Army, he received his LL.B. from the University of Texas in 1958 and his CPA license in 1961. He was admitted to practice law in Texas and Louisiana. Bob worked in the tax department for Exxon Corp. until his retirement in 1986 as senior tax counsel. During his 27 years of service, he also served as chairman of Trans-Alaska Pipeline Tax Committee and as a member and chairman of several tax committees of American Petroleum Institute, including the Windfall Profit Tax Committee. He was predeceased by his father, Dan Graves Standlee; his mother, Helen Rosser Standlee; and his sister, Marjorie Helen Standlee. Survivors: "Jolly Bob" will be greatly missed by his many friends.

Uncle Bob...I will miss your wit, your laugh and seeing you at our family dinners. I will be reminded each March 1 how much I will miss you. Thanks for helping to create so many memories of happy times. I will definitely miss your poems. Rest in peace.
