Mr. Starr helped so many Kirkpatrick High School/college graduates begin our careers. His advice and mentoring was and is still appreciated. I thanked him then and now for that unselfish kindness. Godspeed R.E. Starr.

Mr. Starr: I will always be indebted to you for your kind deed of more than '50' years ago. Your former post-graduate classmate was looking for a music teacher for his campus. On your word, your told him..."Don't look any further, I have the best person for the job." I was hired and the rest is history. "We can never forget you." Shirley Knox Benton and Reggie says, "Me too."

Mr. Starr was small in stature, but large in character! I met my friend and hero with a smile and his fervent encouraging kindness; always willing to offer his wisdom, to assist with mobilizing members, train young advocates and support the fight for equality and social justice. His humility was enormous and he was beloved by many because of his ability to build consensus even in the midst of chaos.

I will miss his smile, warm hugs, kind and loving words! "May your soul and the souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."

Your friend and admirer,
Georgia Noone-Sherrod

Mr. Starr was one of my Heroes in the arena of "civic involvement". Through our road trips (we both did not like to fly) and our numerous conversations, He taught me about the NAACP and the many milestones he was involved in that created a better Fort Worth for people of color. Many of his good deeds went unnoticed, but he continued the fight. He was a staunch advocate for 'Get-out-the-Vote. We will miss Him greatly, but He left a wonderful civic legacy for us to follow. Rest in Peace my friend...we will remember.
