Robert Edward "Bob" Uselton

Robert Edward "Bob" Uselton, 83, passed peacefully in the presence of his family Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday at South Park Baptist Church, 7201 Crowley Road, Fort Worth. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: Noon Friday at the church. Robert was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Euless to Edward Ernest and Dorothy Bauerle Uselton. He attended Euless High School. He married Christine Lillie Cook on Aug. 28, 1948. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps, seeing combat action with the 1st Marine Brigade in Korea. He was severely wounded by mortar fire in August 1950, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was discharged from the Marine Corps due to his injuries, attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and then began a long career with the United States Postal Service, starting as a mail carrier and then working for the vehicle maintenance facility in Fort Worth. He was the church custodian and a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Granbury along with his wife, while they resided there in the 1970s. He retired as fleet manager with the U.S. Postal Service after more than 35 years. After retiring, Bob worked for Broadway Retirement Center for several years. He was active with his grandchildren, the Burleson community and shared a business with his daughter, Personally Yours Embroidery. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Betty Dimsdle; and his wife of 64 years, Chris. Survivors: Son, Paul and wife, Annie, of Granbury; daughter, Tammy Brown and husband, Jim, of Burleson; grandchildren, Amy Snellings and Christie Uselton of Orlando, Fla., James Robert "Jimbob" Brown and Ashley Brown of Burleson; and great-grandsons, Austin Snellings and Shawn Lane of Orlando, Fla.
