BETH USELTON Obituary

BETH ANN USELTON Beth Ann Uselton, 71, was born in El Campo, Texas on March 3, 1954, to Bettye Carmichael Otto and Harold Otto, both now deceased. She and her mother, who was an elementary school teacher, moved to Arlington, Texas where Beth went to Arlington High School. In 1973, she married Ron Uselton, and they were married for 52 years. Ron was then a speech instructor and debate coach at Emporia State University in Kansas. The couple moved to Emporia, Kansas and Beth finished her teaching degree at Emporia State University with a B.A. in Elementary Education in math. In 1976, they moved back to Arlington and Beth taught at Roquemore Elementary School while Ron finished law school. In 1980, on a whim, they moved to Sherman, Texas, where Ron taught paralegal courses at Grayson College and developed a private practice. Beth began teaching in Sherman schools at Jefferson Elementary in 1980 and then was recruited to teach in the Gifted and Talented Program, a K-4 pull-out at various schools. She received a master's degree in Gifted and Talented Education from Texas Women's University, making the drive everyday after classes. Beth finally retired in 2015 after 36 years of teaching, changing the lives of thousands of grateful students. They remember her. Beth is survived by her husband, Ron, her beloved children, John Adam Uselton and Laura Elizabeth Uselton. She is also survived by her brother, John Otto and his wife Kristi, two beautiful nieces, Ashley Otto McIntosh and Lauren Otto Rao, a nephew, John Tyler Otto, all of Arlington, and by an ever-expanding crop of grand-nieces and nephews. She loved them all. She loved to sew and was a talented seamstress, and she could spend hours wandering the aisles of antique shops looking for the perfect artifact. Beth always lived in the moment, laughing and dancing her way through life, cooking fabulous dishes, and finding her greatest personal joy in sharing special occasions and holidays with precious friends and family, and she left us all too soon. A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. An online guest register may be signed at www.waldofuneralhome.com
