Stephanie Skinner, 61, of Emporia, KS was called home by her Lord and Savior on February 2, 2026 after a courageous fight with cancer.

Stephanie Sue Smith was born in Winfield, Kansas on June 29, 1964, the daughter of Walter M. and Karolyn K. (Stuchal) Smith. Stephanie grew up on the family farm North East of Burden, KS. She received her education from Central of Burden, graduating in 1982. After High School Stephanie attended Friends University and then transferred to Emporia State University, where she graduated with her Bachelors in Accounting in 1987.

After graduating Stephanie went to work for IBP in Emporia where she met her best friend for life Susan Dickinson. Stephanie worked at IBP for several years before moving on to Dolly Madison Bakery in the accounting department.

On the evening of December 31, 1996, Stephanie met the love of her life, Dan Skinner. In the fall of 1997 Stephanie quit Dolly Madison and joined Dan on his fall custom harvest run. Stephanie and Dan were united in marriage in Council Grove, Kansas on April 30, 1999. Skinner Harvesting, LLC was formed. In 2008 Stephanie went to work, in the winter months while home from harvest, for FFC in Emporia and then to Varneys & Associates CPA’s in 2018. After 24 years of custom harvesting from Texas to Montana Stephanie and Dan retired in the fall of 2021. Stephanie went to work full time for Varney & Associates CPA’s in January of 2022.

Stephanie fiercely loved her family, her friends and most certainly her fur babies.

Stephanie is survived by her husband Dan Skinner, her mother Karolyn Smith, Winfield, KS, her sisters, Sherri (Todd) McArtor, Lavon, TX, Sami (Barry) Thiel, Winfield, KS, her nephews, Elias (Liberty) McArtor, Anna, TX, Emery McArtor, Lavon, TX, Kyson Thiel, Stillwater, OK, her niece, Brylee Thiel, Tulsa, OK & her two great nephews Everett & Elroy McArtor.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her father Walter Smith.

She is a member of the U.S. Custom Harvesters Association.

Memorial Services will be held at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Kansas on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 10:30 A.M.. Cremation has occurred.

A memorial has been established with the scholarship program of the U.S. Custom Harvesters Association. Contributions may be sent to the funeral home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
