Nelda Sue Prior, 73, formerly of Neosho Rapids, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Garden Terrace of Overland Park.
Nelda Sue Wilson was born in Wamego, Kansas on September 12, 1952, the daughter of Alvin Dean and Fyrma Loree (Hall) Wilson. She and Guy LeRoy Prior were united in marriage on April 12, 1975 in Emporia. Guy passed away on March 29, 2017. She is survived by two sons; William Alvin Prior, Independence, Missouri and Christopher Roy Prior, Emporia, Kansas, sister; Roxie Bush, Melvern, Kansas, grandchildren; Ayla Prior, Taen Childs, Khyra and Will Prior, great-grandchildren; Atreus and Lucian Steele. Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Stephanie Dawn Metcalfe, grandson, Alex Prior, and brother, Craig Wilson.
She owned and operated Nelda’s Custom Upholstery in Neosho Rapids, KS and she served as an active Girl Scout Leader.
Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Nelda’s Life on March 7th from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at the 1861 College Building in Hartford, KS. Cremation is planned
A memorial has been established with Hetlinger Developments Services with contributions sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnet Funeral Home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801, which is assisting with arrangements
