May 26, 1957 - Mar 12, 2026
Debi Schlicht, 68, of Roxbury, KS, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by her family and her dogs.
Debrorah Katherine Scheier was born in Wichita, KS, on May 26, 1957 to Lewis and Mary Ann (Dolly) Scheier. She was the first of five children born into this union, she gained a brother and sister when her Dad Charlie came into their lives when she was a young child.
Debi graduated from Circle High School in Towanda, KS, in May 1975.
On July 9, 1999, she married her soul mate, Tony Schlicht. They made their home in Roxbury. Their home was always full of dogs; they had many over the years and loved them all and considered them their kids.
Over the years, countless hours have been spent on the back of their Harley, traveling to Sturgis multiple times as well as multi-state poker runs and many other bike trips, just because. She enjoyed taking part in all the local toy runs, American Legion rides, and various fundraisers. She was a member of the Canton Legion Riders Post #192 and the Ladies Auxiliary Post #192.
Debi's other passion was her unqualified home renovation experiments along with her best friend, Rene. When they would hatch and plan and set it into motion it was best to just stand back and hope they didn't hurt themselves, each other or take out a load bearing wall. Luckily through the years nobody sustained any major injuries and no houses fell down.
Debi worked at CertainTeed in McPherson for many years before deciding to go back to school. She graduated from Hutch JuCo and Friends University with a degree in Criminal Justice. She worked as a bartender for the Canton American Legion Post #192 and for the Roxbury Post Office which she retired from a few years ago to fulfill her dream of being a stay-at-home dog mom.
Debi is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Tony Schlicht; her children, Jayme (Ian) Stephens, Josh (Katie) Eveland and Matt (Shanea) Eveland; grandchildren, Avery Eveland, Hayden Eveland, Alec Eveland, and Orion Eveland; great-granddaughter, Nori Conrad; brothers, Randy Scheier, Larry Scheier, Donnie Scheier and Terry (Michelle) Cloud; and sister, Pam Gregory; her best friend, Rene Spicer; her four-legged kids, Griz, Bailey and Bear; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and a multitude of friends.
Debi was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Dolly Cloud; her sister, Tammy Overstreet; and her grandson, Deven Conrad.
Per Deb's request there will be no funeral, just a party.
Cremation has taken place, and her family will be planning a last ride and Celebration of Life for later this summer.
