Robert Eldon (Bob) Lundberg, 95, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, surrounded by family at The Cedars in McPherson. Bob was born on September 20, 1930, in McPherson, KS the eldest of Walter and Lucille (Delay) Lundberg. His parents moved from rural McPherson to a farm NW of Roxbury when he was 5 years old.
Bob attended Olive Springs School his first year and his remaining grade school years at Swedesborg. When the weather was nice, he and his sister Evelyn would walk across the pastures a mile and a half to school. He graduated from Roxbury High School in 1948. During his high school years, he was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg.
Bob was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict from 1953 - 1955 and spent most of his time in Austria. He was a member of VFW Post No. 2715 and the American Legion Post No. 24.
After discharge from the Army, Bob started working under contract for Natural Gas & Oil. He operated an oil service rig for 5 years. When White Hawk Oil took over the company, Bob continued to work his way up and retired in 1992 as a Production Superintendent. After retiring, Bob stayed on as a consultant.
On July 26, 1958, Bob was united in marriage to Darlene Becker in Moundridge, KS. They were blessed with three children, Kevin, Gina and Julie. After living in Roxbury for a short period of time, they moved to a farm NW of Roxbury where they lived for 32 years before moving to McPherson in 1992. Bob and Darlene were married for 67 years.
While the family was young, they enjoyed time together camping and boating, teaching all of their children how to water ski and fish. After purchasing a Carriage 5th wheel travel trailer, they joined the Carriage Travel Club and The Wheat State Campers and traveled to many parts of the Eastern U.S. and Canada. Bob organized many of the trips for the club and was the wagon master. During this time, they met many people who became very good friends.
Bob was a member of Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson, KS.
Survivors include his loving wife, Darlene; children, Kevin (Cheryl) Lundberg of Spring Hill, KS, Gina (Jon) Piles of Allen, TX, and Julie (Dallas) Huber of Edwards, MO; two sisters, Evelyn (Willie) Johnson of Bel Aire, KS, Patricia (Larry) Weibert of Lindsborg, KS, sister-in-law, Barbara Roe of McPherson, KS; five grandchildren, Tara (David) Phillips, Courtney Huber, Evan Piles, Shelby (Zach) Oller and Rachel (Austin) Newsome; six great-grandchildren, Luke, Caroline, Etta, Elias, Leo and Callan; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Loren Lundberg.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, March 30, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 31, at Valley View Cemetery at Roxbury, KS, with Pastor Jon Black officiating.
