Roger Owens Obituary

Roger D. Owens

June 26, 1946 - October 14, 2025

Fort Worth, Texas - Roger D. Owens left the arms of his loving wife on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, and into the welcoming arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ due to Agent Orange exposure causing Multiple Myeloma cancer. Born in Ardmore, OK on June 26, 1946, to Willis H. and Lucille Green Owens, he was a master mechanic specializing in diesel engines and loved restoring Tri-Five Chevrolets, his favorite being the '55, and doing beautiful work.

Celebration of Life: 10:00 am, Friday, October 17, 2025, Biggers Funeral Home, 6100 Azle Avenue, Fort Worth, TX.

Interment: DFW National Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation: 9:00 am, prior to the Celebration of Life

During his teenage years, he towed his '55 Chevy every weekend to Forest Hill drag strip winning many times. But he had to give up his love of racing when drafted into the Army. He proudly served in Vietnam '67-'68 and was caught up in the Tet Offensive at the end January of '68, 2 months before his tour was to end. He said "Of all the hell we went through over there, Tet Offensive was by far the worst."

He met and married the love of his life Leah, residing in Azle, TX for over 40 years. They both loved working on old cars, showing his restoration work at car shows (and winning numerous trophies), going to swap meets and selling at swap meets, "junkin", road trips, camping, Laying of the Wreaths at DFW National Cemetery and watching old westerns, his favorite being Gunsmoke.

In addition to his loving wife Leah, Roger is survived by seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; nephew, David Owens (Donna); nieces, Shannon and Danna Owens; cousins and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Shelley and Sharyn Owens; and brother, Danny Owens of Granbury.

Special thanks to Texas Oncology on Henderson St., Heart to Heart Hospice, Visiting Angels, Granbury and First United Methodist Church Fort Worth for their love, care and support. If desired and In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wounded Warrior Project or American Cancer Society.
