Ronnie Ash Obituary

Ronnie Ash, 62, beloved son and brother, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, following a nine-month battle with cancer. Gathering of friends: 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, at Courtyard Marriott Fossil Creek, 3751 NE Loop 820, Fort Worth. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Tarrant County College Foundation. A meticulous craftsman and enthusiastic canoeist, Ronnie found great satisfaction in his work at the Computer Learning Center at Tarrant County College where he was named employee of the year in 2013. His adventurous spirit and pleasure on the water led him to a captaincy in the Merchant Marine, 20 years as an assistant canoe instructor and a much-loved avocation in boat building. Survivors: Parents, Jerry and Jessie Ash; siblings, Viki Ash, Tony Ash and Angela Ash Green; brother-in-law, Paul Green; seven nieces and nephews; and many devoted friends.

Although I only knew Ronnie for a short time, I found a friend in him. Ronnie was the kind or person that people drifted to. He had a magnetic personality. His laughter even through his pain was infectious. It's been several months since we lost Ronnie and there still isn't a day that I don't think about him. Rest in Peace Ronnie you're missed ever so much.

Dear Ash Family,
I will miss our yearly birthday phone calls, the forest of paper between us over the years, but most especially his hearty laugh.
Now that I live in Massachusetts I can go to Walden's Pond. I will skim a rock for him and watch the ripple effect flow, like his friendhip to many.
I will miss him.
Prayers to you all.

Ronnie was such a kind and pleasant person. So friendly and always positive! I would see him often at TCC NE Library Learning Center. He always had a smile for everyone.

I have only known Ronnie for the last year, but in that year it was such fun to work with him. He always had a smile, laugh and hello waiting for you. He is greatly missed. Prayers for all of his loving family.

Ronnie provided me with many, many great memories from numerous river trips in Texas, Arkansas, Utah, North Carolina and Tennessee. He was dearly loved by everyone lucky enough to know him and especially those lucky enough to paddle with him. I'll always have a special memory of him serenading our group of paddlers with a wonderful flute concert one evening on the banks of the remote and wild San Juan River in Utah. He will be sorely missed.
