"To live will be an awfully big adventure."--J.M. Barrie ... and live he did. He was born in Chicago, Ill., into an aviation family where his upbringing fostered his adventurous spirit. In 1951 the family moved to Fort Worth with Bell Helicopter. He embraced "Cowtown" and proved himself worthy riding bulls and busting broncos. Roy graduated from Laneri High School and went on to attend TCU and Arlington State College. But it was his passion for adventures in the skies that prompted him to earn his private flying license at age 18. Early in his career, he flew a Bell Model 47 helicopter to crop dust in Mississippi. In 1964 he entered the business world and continued to pursue flying, achieving over 6,000 hours with ratings that included multi-engine, instrument, instructor, rotorcraft, commercial and seaplane. Roy was a self-made man with a drive and work ethic unmatched by many. He was passionate about flying and was a staunch advocate of aircraft safety. He dedicated his company Benz Airborne to developing state of the art technology and system designs that would ensure the safety, reliability and performance of many aircraft flying today. In addition to flying, he was an avid sailor. He loved to entertain family and friends in Florida and the Caribbean while honing his skills. Above all, Roy cherished his family, who loved and adored him. The legacy he leaves behind is the bond and strength of family that he always encouraged through annual family gatherings. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary Coleman Sr. SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sylvia; along with children, Courteney Shutack (Kevin); Roy Coleman III (Rebecca) and Katryna Hogentogler (Eric). He is also survived by grandchildren, Beau Coleman (Elisa), Mackay Coleman, Katelyn Shutack, Wade Coleman, Sydney Hogentogler, Andrew Shutack, Haley Hogentogler, Ty Coleman, Maddie Shutack, Rachel Hogentogler, Lindsey Hogentogler, Elizabeth Williams and Grace Williams; siblings, Joanne McGinnis, Nancy Carlson (Wally), Bette Secord, Neil Coleman, Mary Seely; and numerous beloved family members and friends.

I enjoyed talking to Roy when we came to visit Glenn. We enjoyed each others company and talked a lot about airplanes. If we ever come back we were invited to stay at his home. He was one of the finest men I have ever met.

Roy...We had some good times at St. Mary's and Laneri. After high school too. Taught me how to fly the J-3 Cub and the 172. Goodbye, old friend. You will be missed by many.

So very sorry to learn of Roy's death. I knew Roy for 66 years. Roy and my brother Philip were very best friends for that many years. He was always around and came often to our house. My brother Philip died February 22 of this year. It has been a very sad loss also. I hope they have found each other in heaven. Many happy memories of their friendship! I will miss Roy. He was always so friendly to me and so generous to others. He served on our last 2 Laneri/OLV big high school reunion committees. He helped others in so many ways and would give you the shirt off of his back if you asked. My sympathies and condolences go out to Sylvia and all of Roy's family. May he rest in heavenly peace. He and his family will be long remembered in my prayers!May God bless all of you.

With our sincere sympathy,

Pat and Sylvia Fisher

So very sorry to lose Roy. I have known him for about 66 years. He and my brother Philip ( just died in Feb of this year) were best friends almost all of their lives. He was always generous and very friendly with me. I will miss him. Always enjoyed him. He was a great help with both of our last 2 big Laneri/OLV reunions. I think he would give you the shirt off of his back if he thought you needed it. I bet Roy and Philip and met up in heaven. They shared many, many good times together here on earth. Love you Roy, may you rest in peace in God's heavenly kingdom. My prayers and sympathy are with Sylvia and all of your family. It is so very sad for me to lose you and Philip. Life will never be the same.

Love and our condolences,

Sylvia and Pat Fisher
