Roy Francis Flaherty

Roy Francis Flaherty, 78, passed peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at home. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Interment: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: Neighbor Helping Neighbor division of Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County, in lieu of flowers. Roy was born in Boston, Mass. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He and Mary moved to Collingswood, N.J., in 1959. The family relocated to Arlington in 1977. Roy worked for Mobil Oil Corp. for many years and enjoyed Saturday bingo games. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary. Survivors: Children, Patricia, Robert and wife, Noelle, Anne Marie and Catherine Scherr and husband, Dennis. He was loved and will be missed by his grandchildren, Meaghan, Regina, Matthew, Charles and Grace.
