Roy Stacy Obituary

Roy J "Grandfather" Stacy, 85, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, after spending two months in local hospitals trying to overcome complications of diabetes. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday at White's Chapel United Methodist Church, 185 S. White Chapel Blvd., Southlake, where a reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Visitation: The Stacy family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Southlake Christian Church, 1280 N. Carroll Ave. Roy was born March 26, 1929, in Dallas to Roy and Cleo Stacy. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Roy was always supportive of his children and grandchildren in their church and school activities. He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Advent Christian Church, which today is Southlake Christian Church. Roy retired from General Motors Assembly Division in Arlington after 30 years, rising through the ranks to his final title as the general superintendent. He refused multiple promotions to prevent leaving the area and moving his family. He was an avid high school sports fan beginning with the Grapevine High School Mustangs and finishing as a Carroll Dragon super fan. Roy was also an avid Texas Rangers baseball fan. Roy loved music and was a season ticketholder to the Johnnie High Show in Arlington. Roy will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors: Wife of 68 years, Merrill Stacy; sons, Rick Stacy and his wife, Diane, Randy Stacy and his wife, Cathy, and Ron Stacy and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Rhonda Stacy Highberger and her husband, Larry; grandchildren, Dorian Sims and her husband, Bill, Elizabeth Smith and her husband, Scott, Ashley Rodriguez and her husband, Robert, Jay Stacy and his wife, Erin, Kristopher Stacy and his wife, Valerie, Brian Stacy and his wife, Lani, Mitch Stacy and his wife, Christy, Travis Stacy, Aaron Stacy, Heather Wright, Heath Marr and Nic Marr; 20 great-grandchildren with one more on the way; sisters, Aloha Renwick and Florene Adams; and countless nieces, nephews and friends whom he considered family.

The Albright family have many found memories of the Stacy family. Please accept our condolences and prayers. We especially remember the kids calling our dad the "Bean Man" because he brought baked beans at Christmas.

The memories of "Grandfather" Roy Stacy are of open arms, big hugs, and warm smiles. When I returned home from Vietnam, Roy Stacy hired me to work at GM-Arlington. Little did anyone know that one day we would share grandchildren. We appreciate "Grandfather" Roy Stacy for giving me an opportunity to earn a pension and retirement. He stands tall in the eyes of those who know and love him.
