There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
I know we all have a Friend that is closer in Jesus, but I found this to be true in our relationship with you and Samuel also. Forever loving yall!

Dear Gloria, the Sunday School class and I often talk about Bro. Sam and all that he has meant to us. He loved so deeply, smiled from ear to ear, and never seem to busy to talk to you. He was such a godly man who love his savior with all his heart, soul, and mind. He never met a stranger, and he always made you feel welcome. Man, I miss him.
Love,

Dearest Gloria, I know I have relayed this story to you on several occasions but I want to say it so everyone will know. I will never forget how distraught Patty and I were after Rebekah's extensive surgery because we were not able to see her for hours afterward. It wasn't until the wee hours of the morning before they finally called us to come see her and we almost ran to the recovery room. We had been sick with worry even though both of us were postive that God was looking out for our precious baby.
As we entered the room, what we saw took our breath away. They had put Rebekah on a 45 degree slant in her bed with both of her hands out to her side and her feet together in the shape of a cross. A very bright light was shining on her so the whole bed was "glowing" in a very surreal way. And standing at the foot of that bed was a REAL angel, in the form of one Sam O'Toole. His head was bowed, both of his hand encircled a Holy Bible and was deep in prayer. Both of us stopped in our tracks and took in all in. We KNEW then that God was indeed watching over our beloved baby.
That was the second time I saw an angel in the form of a Sam, the first being the very first day we spent in the Pediatric ICU at Childrens when we both were trying to come to grips with what had happened less than 24 hrs earlier when Rebekah was born without an esophagus and was immediatly taken from us and rushed to Cook's. Our mind couldn't take it all in and as I was walking between all of the sick babies and wondering what was next, I turned around and there was that angel standing at the end of the aisle. I immediately started weeping as I knew then that God had sent His watchman to keep us.
Our love for Sam and you only grew from that point. Now God gets to tend to Sam and I know that he has never been happier.
I so love you and Sam!!!!
Forever,
Wayne Thorne

Gloria, What joy we can share together knowing that our dearest loved ones are present before the LORD, healed, happy and dancing. I know that you are living your life being a blessing to all you come in contact with and engaging the world for JESUS. What else would Gloria do. I love both you and Sam. Blessings to you.

Dear Gloria....Bro Sam meant so much to all of us in his class...he introduced us and even gave each of us a copy of the One Year Book of Hymns...it has become a part of my daily reading, along with the One Year Bible, which he encouraged us to read...he is such a sweet man and we know we will see him again in his glorified body....which we all will have....praise God! We love and miss you.

Dearest Sam,
The anniversary of you homegoing is almost upon us and we still have a "Twin Tower" crater in our hearts because of your absence in this present world. We do know you are completely healed and enjoying the glory of heaven and fellowship with friends and loved ones. I found this beautiful reflection just the other day and wanted to share it with those who might read this entry:
A Reflection:
Think of stepping on shore and finding it heaven,
Of breathing new air and finding it celestial;
Of hearing new music and finding it angelic,
Of feeling invigorated and finding it immortality;
Of waking up well and finding it home,
Of feeling a touch and finding it God’s.
My love for you is still as strong as ever, but I am endeavoring to go on with life, loving the children and loving and serving God.

Dad,
Thank you for the life you shared with us. You were a close and trusted friend, who was always my advocate to those here and to our Heavenly Father. I can't express in words how much I miss talking with you about the Word, how much I miss the sparkle in your eyes and that broad grin on your face. I'm just happy to know that those eyes and that smile are more radiant than I can imagine as you look upon the face of our Lord and Savior.
I love you, Sir.

Dear Gloria,
I hesitate to write because I can't tell you how I feel in a few words. My memories of Sam & Gloria go back so many years. From the first memories I have of the two of you, I have held you in high esteem, loved you dearly, enjoyed eating your great food, playing Chicken Foot with you and talking about the goodness of the Lord. What a pleasure to be called your friend. Please know that the spiritually disciplined life you have lived , the unselfish giving of time, money and love you displayed to EVERYONE is unsurpassed.
We love you and hope to never lose touch with you. Please know that we ask God to keep your family tight in HIS arns.

Dear, sweet Gloria and family of beloved Bro.Sam........
Gloria, you and Bro. Sam were some of the very first members of TCIP to make us feel like "part of the family" when we began attending there in 2004. Bro. Sam always had time for Mark and I and his gentle and precious hugs and greetings overflowed with the Love of Jesus! Though we no longer attend TCIP, your hug, Gloria, the day of the funeral spoke to my heart of our eternal connection in the Family of God! I know Bro. Sam and Mark had a standing joke about "Mark being the "perfect man" according to a verse in the Book of Psalms.
My (Jeanie's) personal favorite memory of Bro. Sam will forever be the day that you and he came to visit Linda Long at her home when I was there caring for her just shortly before she went Home to be with the Lord. I recall that, though others who visited Linda during her illness were afraid to address the status of her situation head on, Bro. Sam was not. He boldly, yet gently, took her by the hands immediately upon entering the house and asked her if she was ready to go Home should the Lord decide it was time for her to go. Then he began to recite the benefits of the Heavenly Home that awaits us at the end of our journey. Tears streamed down his face as he went into Heavenly Places in the Spirit Realm, giving High praises to God for all that the Father has prepared for those He loves. You and I, Gloria, were a "mess" by the end of our praise session with Linda that day and Linda fell into a restful nap for the next few hours. All of us were edified and all, including Linda, received renewed strength of endurance through Bro. Sam's ministry to her that day for the remainder of her time here on Earth with us. You were right there beside him, Gloria, as always, unified by the Lord in the work He gave you two to do "as one" to establish His Kingdom here on Earth.
It was difficult seeing you without him the day of the funeral. I don't recall ever seeing you two apart from each other. I rejoice, however, in knowing that he and your precious Patty (and Linda) are all rejoicing together in Heaven, having run the race well by His Grace!
We love you Gloria, and pray God's Perfect SHALOM over you and your family, thanking God for His Holy Spirit Who walks along side of you, comforting and teaching you all how to live the remainder of your days here without your beloved Sam.
As MY earthly daddy always used to say, "I myself look forward to that Grand Reunion in Heaven one day when we are joined with those who are in Christ where we will Celebrate forever in His Presence!" We will be reunited with Bro. Sam, Patty, Linda and all our loved ones to Praise and Worship Him for His Goodness towards us Forevermore!
His Peace and Strength to you, Gloria and family, for the remainder of your Journey. Please let us know how you are doing from time to time. We Love and Care about you!
In His Boundless Love and Marvelous Grace,
Mark, Jeanie, Caitlin and Shelbye Kunerth

Dearest Gloria and Family, and all my brother and sisters in Christ,
What an inspiration!! I feel as though I was a seed planted years ago, and that seed is starting to poke it's little head out of the ground. May it grow in the love and humility I saw coming from your ministry. For you both walked in true heartfelt compassion!
May I share a vision I had the day of Brother Sam's graduation...
There was a beautiful hummingbird with a golden thread in it's beak. The hummingbird represented Sam and Glo's ministry. The golden thread represented God's love to HIS people...He knew that the ministry of these two was grounded in Christ's humility and love so our Lord entrusted them to carry that thread, which he extends to us all...
As I watched this hummingbird it weaved ever so gracefully in and out of a great multitude of people. These people represent GOD's flowers. Only some did Sam and Glo have the opportunity to meet face to face...as they flew with HIS love! They were not drinking from the flower's they touched, but they were giving...pollenating each life that was open to the true love of CHRIST that they were and still are blessed with. As I have pondered this picture not only were the lives of those they met touched but everyone we know and love that are in our individual lives have been touched also. It is so much bigger than we can ever imagine...the love of GOD.
This thread wove such a beautiful tapestry by the love and obedience to the call of GOD on their live's, and by that many were healed and will continue to be...for GOD's Love endures forever. May we all take of the golden thread that was extended to all of us... and FLY!!!!
Sharing, that thread that has ONE begining and no end, and touch the lives of all we meet bringing glory to our Father in Heaven and honoring the Legacy of one of the greatest ministries I have had the Honor and Priveledge to be a part of.
You are all beautiful!
May the Lord bless us one and all as we seek to love GOD and others in our lives, therefore bringing Glory and Honor to the MOST HIGH!!!

Dear Kenneth,
Just wanted to compliment you on the beautiful pictorial slide show you did of your Dad and family for the visitation and memorial service. Also wanted to tell you that Richard and I were both very impressed with the beautiful poem you wrote for the back of the program. It was not only appropriate and touching, but just beautiful. You're talented! Please tell Becky we enjoyed the tape of her group singing. I'm glad you children are staying close in touch with your Mom.

Dear Gloria,
What a beautiful memorial service it was for Sam. You and your family and the ministers planned such a loving and fitting way to honor Sam and God. There were so many people at the visitation and the funeral, and I hope you and your children now realize how much Sam (and you) have meant to so many. I'll continue to stay in touch.
Love and prayers,

Ken,Barbara and Michael,
I am saddened by the loss of your father and grandfather. The loss of a dynamic and loving parent is very difficult and yet we can't forget how blessed we were to have such a parent. The older I get, the more I realize how few of us can say that we had wonderful parents. I believe that the world is at a loss at the death of your dad. For him there is no more sorrow or pain because he was a teacher of the word so he rests in the arms of the Lord. Thank you for your e-mail. Madeleine and I have you all in our thoughts and prayers. My special cousin, and friend, Kenneth,
How blessed you were to have had Samuel Kenneth O'Toole as a father.
I know you are fully aware of what an incredible man your dad was, but it is my prayer that you will even understand, more fully than ever before, how God graced your life with Uncle Sam.
You can read my words to your mother in my other Guest Book entry,
but I wanted to tell you that I love you, cousin. I wanted to tell you that the "deep soul" of your father lives on in you. I wanted to tell you that you and your family will, forever, be part of the most cherished memories of my life. I wanted to tell you what a difference your dad made in my life.
I'm grieved to my core that I couldn't be at your dad's memorial service. The situation, at hand, simply forced us to cancel our plans to make the trip. Even as early as 4:00 this morning, I was hoping our weather situation, and weather-related problems, would clear enough to make it "wisdom" to be with you today.
Again, I love you, Kenneth.

Dearest Aunt Gloria,
I loved Uncle Sam with a love that is impossible to adequately describe. His kindness and care for me, as a boy and man, have provided me with some of my fondest reflections from my fifty-five years of living.
I was so saddened to hear that Uncle Sam had passed away, but so blessed to know he's finally free and experiencing heavenly realities that he had, so often, preached about.
Mother, Vicki, and I had planned on attending the memorial service today, but when Hurricane Gustav's path was confirmed to be heading straight for Monroe/West Monroe, that fact ruled out any possiblity of us making the trip. The weather has been brutal, here, for the past 24 hours. We've been without electrity, at our home, since 9:00 pm last evening.
I love you, special lady. Give my love to all my wonderful cousins.
HIS/yours,
Michael

Ken,
Thank you for sharing the link to this. I'm sorry we are not able to be there for you. Your father was a fine man from what you have told me and from what I read in the obituary. He left a legacy of Christ's compassion and care for the lost and for his fellow believers in Christ. I can only imagine what an incredible homecoming your father had as he departed this world and was greeted by the countless souls he had touched in this life. Then Jesus walking up to him, and with a strong and loving embrace he whispered into his ear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. Have a look at what I've done for you. Welcome home."
Yours and our greatest sadness is that he'll be missed here but the joy of going home is something for us to rejoice in and long for ourselves.
You and your family are in our prayers. We love you.

Ken,
Thanks for sharing this link with me. Your Father, my Father-in-Law, was one of the most unique and dear persons I have ever known. Though, as you know, he and I did not agree on everything, Sam was the most honest, endearing, loving and serving individuals I have ever met. He was so easy to talk to, about anything. I love him dearly.
Thank you Ken for your friendship and please know that I value you and your family more than you will know.

I will address this to you, since I know you and Barbara best.
What a pleasure it has been to meet you and Barbara, and to share our love and passion of art. Thanks for choosing my paintings to be in your art shows because this is also the way I was introduced to your Dad, Sam.
I am deeply moved and sorry to hear of his passing. I know we connected emotionally and spiritually. What I did not know is that we had something else in common and that is our families are fellow SOUTHWESTERNERS. I have family members who are graduates of SAGU, and I attended High School there in the 50’s and was an Instructor of Business there in the late 60’s.
Your Dad, Sam, is now rejoicing with the Angels. The joy he has we will not know until we join him. May God’s blessings and comfort be with you, Ken and Barbara.

As I only know you and Barbara let me address my remarks to you wonderful people. It's been many years since we worked together yet I feel we shared so much. So, it is with deep emotion that I offer my condolences on the passing of your father.
Regrettably we, as children, soon reach an age, that tends to be the time that our parents are taken from us...just when we often love them the most. Hold the memories you shared with him close to your heart for decades to come.
God Bless You.

Dear Gloria, You and Bro. Sam will always hold a special place in my heart. You two were always consistant to offer God's love & comfort to me and my girls. I remember when my dad past away, Bro. Sam sought out my family members in north Ft. Worth, not knowing who they were or where they lived. He drove through neighborhoods and knocked on doors until he found each of them to offer encouragement from God. I will never forget his dedication to allow himself to be used by God in my life and the lives of so many others. What a selfless man he was and I'm blessed to have been impacted by his ministry. Take comfort in God's loving embrace, Gloria. Bro. Sam is now with Jesus and has heard the words "Well done my good and faithful servant".

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of our dear brother Sam. But at the same time I was rejoicing. What a man of God! He is now with his Lord and free from any earthly problems. Words could never express the impact Brother Sam has had in my life and the lives of my family members. His handshakes and hugs were warm and loving. His hospital visits for various family members were loving and offered strength and peace. He officiated for my daughters wedding and was there for my grandchildren's dedication to Christ. He has provided counsel and care for my family and for multitudes of others. The love, joy, and support he has demonstrated over the years were wonderful, shining examples of God's love. Brother Sam's work here is not over...even in his passing he brings us together to glorify God and HIS wonderful plan for us.
