Scott Miller Obituary

Scott Miller
July 12, 1949 - September 27, 2021
Millsap, Texas - Scott Rupert Miller passed away after a short battle with cancer in Millsap, Texas. Scott was born in Corvallis, Oregon to Forest and Arlene Miller. The Miller family moved a few times before settling in Hillsboro, Oregon where Scott attended Hillsboro High School. Scott joined the Navy shortly after graduation and served honorably aboard the carrier USS Midway during the Vietnam War. During his duty on the flight deck, Scott became inspired to be a pilot. Following his discharge, Scott returned to Oregon to begin flight training.
His first professional piloting was with Western Skyways in Troutdale, Oregon. He then moved to Garland, Texas to fly for Sabine Oil & Gas. It was there he met and married Glynda Sue Sanders, his beloved wife of 40 years. From Sabine, Scott went to work for Electronic Data Systems, enjoying a 26 year career and eventually managing their large corporate flight operations. Scott left EDS after the merger with Hewlett-Packard in 2009. At the time of his death, he was employed as instructor at CAE and a pilot at Cook Canyon Ranch.
Scott had broad interests including anything related to aviation, sports, classical music, and car collecting. He enjoyed visiting his parents hometown in Halfway, Oregon and had many fine hunting and fishing trips there. He was a lover of all animals, especially dogs, and was known to spoil any of whom were lucky enough to live under his roof.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Glynda; brother, Marty. He is survived by his partner, Nancie Kathrens (Millsap); sister, Macie Brightman (Ed) of Portland, Oregon; stepdaughters, Michelle Sandlin (Scott) of Colleyville and Deana Demoret (David) of Keller; granddaughters, Megan, Jordan, Dani, Sami, Rivers and Riley and nephew, Evan Brightman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SPCA of Texas-Dallas or Best Friends Animal Society.

Yes, I remember the day
It was on the mourn
That I saw a ship a sailing
The winds were fair
The sea was calm
Home port was nigh
Scott still young
And he was at the rail
With shipmates once again.---rs
