Sharon Ward Obituary

Sharon Ann Ward was born October 27, 1943, in Dallas, the first of three children to Ann and Roy Bales.

She is survived by her three children: Kevin Ward, Chris Ward and Wendy Royal; two sisters, Vicki Johnson and Terri Bales; five grandchildren; Alison Ward, Natalie Ward, Emily Ward, Taylor Royal and Eric Royal; daughter-in-law Susan Ward, son-in-law Mike Royal, brother-in-law Charles Johnson and niece Molly Johnson.

Sharon was a graduate of Bryan Adams High School in Dallas. After graduation, she attended Kilgore College, where she was a proud member of the famous Rangerettes. From there, she attended East Texas University and graduated with a degree in education. She worked as a teacher for many years before leading the children's ministry at First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Upon leaving the church, she worked for Lockheed Martin in the technology department until her retirement.

Sharon loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, walker and, in her younger days, an accomplished runner. She loved to travel and would often take long excursions with friends, with Europe being among her favorite locations. She loved a variety of music but was especially a fan of the Rolling Stones, whom she finally saw live a few years ago.

Sharon's warm and friendly spirit touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but cherished memories she created with them will live on.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 19 at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens Lecture Hall, followed by a celebration of life at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.

Yesterday

Hugs to all of you. I really enjoyed seeing your mom each Sunday and getting to know her on a different level than when I was just Wendy's friend or Carol's daughter. She was an amazing women and always made me laugh. Her smile was contagious and she was full of spunk. She loved each of you so much and would tell me what everyone was up to each week. One of my favorite memories will always be Wendy and I trying to escape church on Sunday mornings without Mom and Sharon running into each other on the way out- knowing it would be hours before we could leave. That never changed as they grew older - phone calls and walks still lasted hours! RIP Sharon you will be missed.
