Sherry Harp Obituary

Sherry Diane Peavler Harp passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Celebration of life: Please join us as we celebrate her life at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Sherry Diane Peavler Harp's story began Oct. 21, 1948, born as the second child of David and Erlene Peavler, with her older brother, Mike Peavler, now of Waxahachie, and younger sister, Pam Peavler Miller, now of Watauga. Sadly, we announce that her story ended July 29, 2015, in Keller at the age of 66, ending her lengthy battle with end-stage renal failure and the long-term effects of a severe stroke, all while keeping a smile on her face and repeating the phrase "Staying positive!" Sherry graduated from Everman High School in 1966, and shortly thereafter married Larry D. Harp, also of Everman. In 1967, she gave birth to her oldest son, Derald Allen Harp, followed by a second son, Trenton Lee Harp, in 1968, and a daughter, Deena Lynn Harp Friesz, in 1970. Although we mourn Sherry now because she has passed on, we know there is nothing special about her death, but rather we rejoice because there was everything special about her life, and we were lucky enough to have called her mom, sister or friend. Although her story has ended, we know that she will always live on in the chapters of our lives, and our hearts will be lifted as we think of her smile. We love you! Survivors: Family members who mourn her departure include her children, Derald Harp (Dwanna), Trent Harp and Deena Friesz (Scott); brother, Mike Peavler (Jeanne); sister, Pam Miller; grandchildren, Meghan Harp, Taylor Archer, Kelsey Archer, Delaney Harp, Payton Harp, Gareth Harp and Ella Friesz; nieces and nephews, Russ Cate (Jenn), J.D. Peavler, Kevin Peavler (Anne), Krista Bartos (Kevin), Rachel Hernandez (Sonny) and Emily Pogue (PJ); numerous grandnieces and grandnephews; countless friends; and, of course, the nurses and staff of Keller Oaks Healthcare Center.
