Sherry Keeton Purselley
October 3, 1949 - April 7, 2025
Dallas, Texas - Sherry Denise Keeton Purselley, 75, joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 7, 2025. Born on October 3, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Frank and Marifranc Keeton, Sherry was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth and a true light to all who knew her.
Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2025, at Sagamore Baptist Church, 2301 Dottie Lynn Pkwy, Fort Worth, Texas 76120.
She attended Meadowbrook Elementary and Middle School and graduated from Eastern Hills High School in 1967. Sherry continued her education at Texas Tech University, where she met the love of her life, Butch Purselley. They married in 1971 and raised four children-Bric, Baron, Susie, and Buck.
Sherry was devoted to her family and spent her early years at home with her children, while also helping run two local daycare centers-Country Care and School Kids Limited. She also ran two restaurants- Beefer's Burgers and Oso's Taqueria alongside her husband. Later, she found her calling as a parent educator for Fort Worth ISD, teaching early childhood education to countless families across the city.
A woman of deep and joyful faith, Sherry was a longtime member of Sagamore Hill Baptist Church and also attended Christ Chapel Bible Church. As a child, her beloved church home was Meadowbrook Baptist, where she created many cherished memories with her church family and friends. Sherry's smile was infectious, and her joy radiated to everyone around her. She loved entertaining and was the heartbeat of every holiday tradition-Christmas caroling the neighbors, ringing in the New Year with Bingo, stuffing Easter eggs with money, and hosting Thanksgiving feasts that could feed thousands.
Sherry loved people-family, friends, neighbors, coworkers-and she made everyone feel seen, known, and loved. She lived with a "cup half full" perspective and never spoke an unkind word about anyone. She truly embodied grace and forgiveness. Even when speaking about death, Sherry had no fear-she knew where she was going, and she had her celebration of life planned for years.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marifranc Keeton; her sister, Brenda Kay Hobbs; the love of her life, Butch Purselley; Butch's sister, Linda Barton, and brother-in-law, Jim Barton; and his parents, Lee Roy Purselley and Georgia Hall Purselley.
She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Susie Thompson and her husband, Jeff, along with their children, Charlie, Tucker, Jake, and Parker. She is also survived by her sons: Bric Purselley; Baron Purselley and his wife, Mandy, and their daughter, Crosby Jane; and Buck Purselley and his wife, Emily, and their daughter, Blair.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Marifranc Keeton; her brother, Johnny Keeton and his wife, Darlene; her sisters-in-law, Cheryl Boyette (husband, John) and Karen Jennings (husband, Jay); brother-in-law, Carey Hobbs; Mrs. Lee Roy Purselley (Jeanie); and her many beloved nieces and nephews-20 in total-whom she would call often to tell them how much she loved them.
She cherished her dear friends, especially her lifelong friends- The Birthday Club. A special thank you to Cecilia Cabello, a cherished friend and helper who stood faithfully by Sherry's side for the last 30 years.
Sherry believed you could never have too many friends and that you need all kinds. Her legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and faith will live on in the many lives she touched.
