Shirley Kellerman Obituary

Shirley Pulley Kellerman, 84, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at her home. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday at All Saints Episcopal Church. Private interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project. Shirley was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Wink, daughter of the late Rose Touchstone and William Ellis Pulley. She graduated from high school in McCamey, where she met her future husband, Bob Kellerman. They attended the University of Texas together and she graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism. She and Bob married in 1949 and their son, Scott, was born in 1951 in Midland and daughter, Shellie, was born in 1953 in Fort Worth. A well-known artist in the Southwest, she worked primarily in oil and received much of her inspiration from the times she spent in Ruidoso, N.M., with Bob. She was also a member of various social and civic clubs. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 54 year, Bob Kellerman; and husbands, Joe Bruce Cunningham and Edward Keltner; and her sister, Maxine Carpenter. Survivors: Children, Scott Kellerman and his wife, Marian, Shellie Kellerman; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Austin and his wife, Laura, Christopher and Luke; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Jakob and Kate; and beloved nieces and nephews.

I knew Shirley in the Humble Oil Camp in Wink and we were in third grade together. In Miss Eva Ball's fourth grade class I listed her as my best friend..She was a sweet little girl and I know grew to be a fine woman.
