Sondra Lopez-Aguado Obituary

Sondra Gay Weidner Lopez-Aguado of Fort Worth passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016, in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at St. John's Anglican Church in Fort Worth. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Heifer International, The Leukemia Lymphoma Society of Fort Worth or Alzheimer's Association of North Texas. Sondra was born to Roy and Marjorie Weidner on Feb. 6, 1942, in Hamilton. The first of three generations to graduate from Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Soni went on to obtain her bachelor's degree from the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico City, where she met and married Jorge Lopez-Aguado in 1963. They returned to the United States in 1969 to raise their three daughters. Sondra was a devoted and beloved longtime member of St. John's Anglican Church, serving over the years with the Vestry, Altar Guild, St. Margaret's Guild and EYC Youth Group. Most recently, she was admitted to the Order of the Daughters of the Holy Cross. Professionally, Sondra spent 30 years working for the Day Care Association/Head Start Program, moving from the classroom to the administration offices. Sondra enjoyed traveling with her family. She was a talented artist and volunteered with Theater Arlington, the Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth as well as Sister Cities International. The two most important things to Sondra were her faith and her family, but she had a broad definition of family and sought to love, serve and mentor so many people throughout her life. Survivors: Her beloved husband of 52 years, Jorge Lopez-Aguado; mother, Marjorie Swindle Aceves; daughters, Cathy and Mike Mason of Bedford, Sondra Turin of Dallas and Georgette Lopez-Aguado of Fort Worth; sister, Kay Farrer; grandchildren, J. Albert Coronado and Carmen Lopez-Aguado; and many other loving family members and dear friends, both in the U.S. and Mexico.
