Thomas Drake Obituary
Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at DeBerry Funeral Chapel. Burial: Roselawn Cemetery, Denton. Visitation: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Grapevine to Iranus and Vida Verda Drake. He graduated from Keller High School.
Tom served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Novella Hooten March 1, 1941, in Denton. He was a grateful member of AA for 27 years. He worked for Borden Milk Co. 21 years and Parr Gas Co. five years. In Denton, he last worked for Industrial Catering as a catering truck route man.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas W. Drake Jr.
Survivors: Wife, Novella H. Drake of Denton; daughters, Charla Doughty of Nacogdoches and Jana Loehr of Dallas; grandchildren, Sondra Weber and husband, Scott, Carter Drake and wife, Cindy, JoAnna Clark and husband, Hunter and John Longhurst; great- grandchildren, Corbin and Corinne Weber, Augie Longhurst and Kaylee Drake; special friends; brother-in-law, J.R. Hooten and wife, Alice and Bob F. Reames and wife, Bobbie Jean; and many nieces and nephews.

I only knew him for a very short time. He was the father of Tommy and I was at Baylor with Tommy. I visited their home that first semester and met all the family (dad, mom, and two sisters Charla and Jana). Mom really liked me because I ate everything she cooked and asked for seconds (I graduated from Buckner Home and when I got a chance for a home-cooked meal, I was there). I really liked Tommy's family and I thought his dad was quite a guy, hard-worker and very proud of his family. I'm very sorry to read about Tommy's death as well, knowing he graduated Baylor Law School and was a practicing attorney.
