Tom Blanton Obituary

Tom Blanton left this life just as he had lived, at full stride, on Friday morning, Jan. 31., 2014. As a longtime resident of Lake Country Estates he was taking his early morning walk with his friend when he stepped into the presence of His Lord and the host already in heaven. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Monday at Lake Country Church, 8777 Boat Club Road, Fort Worth 76179. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Memorials: The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, gifts be made in Mr. Blanton's honor to either Lake Country Church, at the address above, or Lake Country Christian School, 7050 Lake Country Drive, Fort Worth 76179. Tom was born in Wichita, Kan., on Sept 19, 1946, and lived most of his 67 years in Fort Worth. He and his wife, Jeannie, were married on Nov. 25, 1967. Thomas B. Blanton was an accomplished entrepreneur who built, operated and sold numerous businesses in the public and private arena over the course of his career. He was involved in the liquid waste rendering industry for over 30 years, developing businesses and processes to meet evolving environmental requirements. In recent years, Mr. Blanton's principal activities focused on real estate development and oil and gas exploration in the states of Texas, Arkansas and Missouri. He served on several community, charitable and business boards. Tom was an outstanding leader in business, in his church and community, and in honoring his much loved country. Survivors: Wife, Jeannie; children, Greg, Ryan, Krista and Christie; grandchildren, Victoria, Thomas, Chloe, Kaitlyn, Caden, Kendall and Gunner; brother, Ron Blanton; sister, Caroline White; brother-in-law, Randy White.

I worked with Tom for many years at the Ft Worth car show. He was a humble man, always willing to go above and beyond without needing recognition. I will miss him even though I know he is in Heaven. My sympathy to his wife and family.

Tom and I made a connection beyond our work on the Cowtown Cruisin for a Cure board. Our mutual journeys of walking with cancer as a caregiver created a connection that is unique. I admired him as a quiet leader and a Godly man. You will be missed! My condolences to Jeannie and his family.

The greatness of a man is seen in his deeds more than his words. Tom's words were valued; his deeds established value. Fathers' rich blessings to Jeannie and the family, for in His blessings are wisdom and knowledge because of His Presence.

Tom is with his Father now, be at peace. His family and friend will miss him here on earth but know that this time is short and you'll be with him for eternity with God. Enjoy the wonderful memories that your life here with him brought you.
