Blacksburg - Larry Wayne Blanton, 73, of 224 Cherokee Ford Road, gained his wings Monday, February 23, 2026 at his residence.
Larry was the husband of Renee Martin Blanton and the son of Nazie B. and Rhea Ola Byars Blanton. He was retired from Williams Electric and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He loved fishing, Carolina Panthers, and the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Mr. Blanton is survived by his wife, Renee Martin Blanton; his daughter, Niki Suttles (Chris). his bonus sons, Jonathan Leagon (Melanie) and Jeremy Leagon; his sisters, Gwen Spanos and Cherry Spencer; and his grandchildren, Landon and Hunter Suttles, Liam McKinley, Charleston Leagon, and Caleb Sims; his brothers-in-law, Curtis Martin Jr. and Rick Martin; and his sister-in-law, Cheryl Coffey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rhea and Nazie Blanton, his mother, Regina Blanton Carroll, his brothers, Howard Byars, Claude Blanton, Bobo Blanton, Tommy Blanton, and Grant Carroll, his sisters, Jewel Wilt and Lena Harkness; and his special friend, Jimmy Spencer.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 1:30-2:00 pm at Cherokee Falls Missionary Fellowship Church, 207 First Street, Blacksburg, SC. Memorial services will immediately follow at 2:00 pm at the church with Rev. Gregg Martin and Mr. Jonathan Leagon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Falls Missionary Fellowship Church, 207 First Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702.
The family will be at the residence.
