George Edward Blanton

George Edward Blanton, age 53, of Marion, passed away at the Marion General Hospital on Friday, March 13, 2026. George was born in Marion, to the late Denzil and Luella Aldene (Miller) Blanton, on December 29, 1972. George graduated from Marion Harding High School and would work for the City of Marion for over 20 years.

George loved to tinker on cars and always had a project that he was working on. One of the cars that he finished was his pride and Joy a 1972 Camero, that he loved to take his youngest son for rides in. George loved football and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. In his free time George enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. George was a bit a "Rocker" and could be found head banging and playing the air guitar when listen to classic rock especially if it was a Song by AC/DC. AC/DC was George's favorite band and would see them in concert when ever he could.

In George's younger days he enjoyed cold ones with his best guy friends. George also loved to cook and his being from a large family impacted this because despite the number of people that may attend one of his cookouts, he cooked enough to feed an Army. George loved working and was known to be at work hours before his start time so that he had time to visit with the many people that he worked with. Everyone that worked with George loved to be around him, especially since he was always known to be both punctual and dependable.

Left to cherish George's memory are long time fiancé and best friend Shiela Mellot, sons Brandon Lee, Bailey Wayne and Cole Blanton, brothers, Denzil, David, William, and Denver Blanton, brother in law, Dwayne, grandchildren, Elliemae, Raelyn, River, Isabella, Maryjane, Emily, and Natalee, along with life long friends, Randy, Keith, and Clarence "Bones."

George was preceded in death by, Parents, brothers, Mike and Walt, and sisters, Mary, Lisa, Glenice, Alissa.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation for George on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 5pm until 7pm at the Boyd Funeral Home with the funeral service starting at 7pm with Pastor Tom Beckel officiating.
