John Hickman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boyd Funeral Home - Marion on Mar. 9, 2026.
John William Hickman, Jr, age 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on March 7, 2026. John was born on May 8, 1965, to his late parents, John William Hickman and Virginia Baer-Rousch (Miller), in Kenton, OH. He would find and marry the love of his life, Pamela Hickman, in Marion, OH, on August 14, 2004. John worked in early years at JLenco, Hanes Manufacturing, Rocky's Auto Parts, and was a manager at Burger King. His last job was delivering food for the OK Café. John had a personality that was truly bigger than life. John was well known for his involvement in the motorcycle community, being that he was Santa Claus for the Marion Area Harley Riders Association. He loved to dress as Santa and do charity events and dress up for the kids to spread Christmas cheer. He was a local legend when it came to karaoke and loved to sing at the Ok Café when he wasn't delivering food. He was a member of the 584 American Legion, as well. In his free time, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed being in his garden. He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and NASCAR, with his favorite drivers being Dale Ernhardt Sr. and Jr. Above all, he loved the time spent with his family, kids, grandchildren, and even his newly born great grandchild.

John is preceded in death by his parents John Sr & Virginia, stepparents, Dave Miller and Ruth Hickman, and his sister, Kelly (Steve) Brown.

Left to carry on his legacy is his wife and his beloved dog Baker, sons; Trey (Ashley) Hickman, Mike Hickman, and Daniel (Tiffianie) Hickman, brothers; Joe (Betsy) Hickman, Tony (Debbie) Miller, Jeff (Kay) Miller, Dave (Nikki) Miller, and Chris Miller, sisters; Rhonda Millington, Beth Millington, Shawn (Don) Lucas, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, as well as, many nieces and nephews.

The Hickman family would like to invite John's loved ones and friends to join them for calling hours on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Boyd Funeral Home, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The memorial service will start immediately following at 5 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date. Pastor Tim Myers will be officiating all services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to the Marion Area Harley Riders Association, the Cancer Society of America or the 584 American Legion.
