Lewis "Louie" Junior Clark, age 87, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Kingston
Residence of Marion,
Marion, Ohio.
Louie was born in Upper Sandusky in Wyandot County, Ohio on May 12, 1938 and was
raised by the late Harry R. Clark and mother Mae E. (Smith) Clark. He was the beloved
husband of Marie E. (Newell) Clark and together they shared over 68 years together.
He was proud to have grown up in Marion and to be known as a west-sider, and
enjoyed recounting the many stories of his childhood there.
Louie attended Marion Harding High School and graduated with the class of 1956.
While there, he ran cross country and track for Coach Ken Somerlot, a man whom he
spoke fondly of, even years after high school. He was involved in high school civic
minded organizations such the Tri-Y Club and served as president of the Vocational
Industrial Club (V.I.C.) his senior year.
Shortly after graduation, following the footsteps of his father and brothers, Louie worked
for the Erie Railroad. Whether it was his sense of patriotism or looking for more
adventure, he soon enlisted in the US Army. After completing his service, he returned to
Marion and it was during that time he was introduced to Marie by a friend, meeting at
the Hy-Way Rollarena. Things clicked and they married in 1957. In the early 1970's
Louie and his two brothers, Lewis and Bob, established a successful fencing company,
serving Marion and surrounding counties. Louie retired from the railroad after a
dedicated 43 years.
Anyone who knew Louie also knew that his vehicles were more than just a way to get
from place to place. They were a reflection of who he was. He took great pride in
working on vehicles and meticulosity maintained them both inside and out, he made
sure they were always running in top-notch condition. Always tinkering, making
adjustments, or just cleaning, maintenance was something he truly loved.
But while Louie enjoyed working on vehicles, nothing truly meant more to him than his
family. In his retirement, he spent many hours with his wife and family, running a
greenhouse and floral business. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
were always at the center of his life. Louie made sure, in his own way, that they knew
they were important to him. Whether it was his presence at a game or any activity his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren were part of, Louie did his best to be there to
show his support. Rarely did he miss an event until it became physically impossible.
Seeing his family brought him tremendous pride and happiness.
There is no doubt that Louie also enjoyed relaxing with some of his favorite pastimes.
He was a big Ohio State fan. Forever loyal to Cleveland sports, especially the Browns
and the Indians. Through the highs and lows of every season, Louie remained devoted
to his teams, always hopeful for the next big win. When it came time to unwind, you
could often find him watching classic Westerns. Among his favorites were the timeless
episodes of Gunsmoke and The Rifleman, and rugged stories of the old west with
strong characters such as of John Wayne and Clint Eastwood.
Left to cherish his memory, is his beloved wife, Marie E. Clark of Marion; children: Rick
Allen Clark and Lisa McCurdy of Cardington, Jeffrey Scott (Amanda) Clark of Marion,
and Pamela Lynn Clark and Dan Jane-wit of Connecticut; grandchildren: Dustin (Dawn)
Clark, Emily (Jason) Williams, Griffin (Katie) Clark, and Zoie Clark; great-grandchildren:
Clayton Williams, Brice Williams, Amari Clark, Zak Clark, and another grandson who will
arrive soon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Louie was preceded in death by his siblings: Flossie Taylor-
Harbinson, Lewis Edward Clark, Robert Leroy Clark, and Betty Lou Abbott.
The Clark family would like to thank Kingston Residence and hospice for their care
keeping Louis comfortable and engaged till the end.
