Tommy Ray Wright

1946 - 2012

Tommy Ray Wright, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away at home in the loving presence of his family Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012. Service: 3 p.m. Thursday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Memorials: Texas Scottish Rite Children's Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project. Tommy was born Sept. 6, 1946, in Fort Worth to Robert and Grace Wright. He attended Everman High School, TCJC and UTA. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967 and served on the USS Enterprise in the Pacific and in Vietnam. Tommy was a machinist by trade, and then worked in the optical field for 25 years. He coached his son in Little League baseball for seven years and was an avid sports fan, especially for the Texas Rangers and TCU. He was also a proud Mason with Crowley Lodge #1437, a history buff and enjoyed going to the deer lease with family. He loved music, singing and playing his guitar with his son and grandsons. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Vanita Carroll. Survivors: Wife of nearly 46 years, Jeanne Wright; son, Terry Wright and wife, Jessica, and sons, Tommy, Robert and Tanner Wright; daughter, Karrie "Doll" Wright and son, Cody Carlisle; sisters, Maxine Roach and Nelda Cockerham; brothers-in-law, Ricky Carroll and wife, Brenda, and Bruce Carroll and wife, Mary; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Dotti Carroll; lifelong childhood friend, Tommy Swartz; and an extended family, consisting of 48 nieces and nephews.
