Midland, Texas - Vance Hollis Pearcy, 31, of Midland, passed from this life on Saturday, November 6, 2021, in Ft. Worth, Texas. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at The Branch at Nalley-Pickle & Welch, 3800 N. Big Spring, St., Midland, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 1906 W. Texas Ave., Midland, Texas.
Vance was born on March 28, 1990, to Donna and Van Pearcy in Midland, Texas. When he wasn't pestering his older sister, he was involved with just about anything that included a ball, club, running shoes, fishing pole, or hunting shotgun. He attended Midland High School, where he played football, basketball, and ran track. From the spring of his sophomore year to his senior year, he attended Midland Christian High School, played football as a wide receiver and kick returner, and was part of the MCS State Championship track team as a long-jumper, triple-jumper, and quarter-miler. He graduated from MCS in 2009.
He fell in love with Texas Christian University on his many visits with his older sister while she attended college, and he followed in her footsteps in 2009. TCU invited him to walk on the track team as a long-jumper, but he chose to enjoy his college years instead. Vance fraternized as a Phi Delta Theta, where he bonded with many life-long friends. He was also an avid Frog football fan who stood through home games, no matter the scorecard or weather. Vance earned his B.A. from TCU in 2014, and joined his dad's Raymond James practice later the same year to learn the ropes. Vance loved to fish (he had the scars to prove it), ski (in his American Flag jumpsuit), and appreciate nature (as long as it didn't include hiking). He had a pretty mean bowling arm, too, but he didn't brag about it. But most of all, Vance was a kind, funny, generous soul who never met a stranger. Perhaps some of his closest friends penned it best:
Vance accomplished a lot in his life, but his biggest accomplishment was the impact he had on everyone around him. As an avid TCU football fan, he loved re-watching the 2011 Rose Bowl. He also loved being with family and friends, ordering the largest chocolate dessert on the menu, spending time in Aspen in the summer, fishing, working cattle on the ranch in Hico, skiing, and all-day sports or movie marathons.
Vance was quiet, he was loud, he was unfiltered, and always unapologetically himself. He was the ultimate companion who you could carry on with for an entire road-trip or sit comfortably with in silence for hours. He instantly meshed with everyone, whether a friend, a client, or a baby. Vance always had your back, and his presence brought a tangible love that made you feel at home. During his time here, he found a way into everyone's heart. Another century with Vance wouldn't have been enough; he was our best friend who brought out the best in us.
So please, for Vance, we ask every individual in this room to cherish your best friend, the one you may not have called in a while, the one who knows you better than yourself, the one who sits next to you when no one else does, the one who undoubtedly stands up for what is right and wrong, and the one who you will greet in Paradise. Vance, you are that one, and we love you forever.
The family has felt the outpouring of love, prayers, and thoughts from family, friends, colleagues, and others who knew Vance.
He is survived by his parents, Donna and Van Pearcy of Midland; sister, Erin, and husband, Brian Hagler, of Austin; his niece, Emma Ann Hagler, whom he loved and adored; grandparents, Jan and Charlotte Pearcy; grandfather, Robert Boll; uncle Pat Boll; uncle Kirk Pearcy; and cousins Cody Pearcy and Chase Pearcy. He is preceded in death by grandmother Arlene Connery.
The family suggests memorials be donated to the following, Raymond James Charitable, 2020 W Cuthbert Ave, Midland, TX 79701, Memo: Pearcy Family Foundation, which will be used to fund a TCU scholarship in Vance's name.
Pallbearers will be Hayden Cherry, Dale Dalhstrom, Davis Farish, Will Goudeau, Griffin Mann, Derick Perkins, Si Ratliff, Travis Ryffel, and Petie Staub.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scottye Ratliff, Cathy Kamradt, Renae Ratliff, Scottye Urias, Paige Cubine, Jay Arrick, Andrew Howard, Jordan Rundgren, Karl Rundgren, and Megan Lopez.
