Vera Baker Obituary

Vera Beatrice Morehouse Baker, 94, an elegant lady from days gone by, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, in the auditorium at Trinity Terrace. Memorials: If so desired, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th St., New York, N.Y., 10622, www.BCRFcure.org/Donate. Vera was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Eureka Springs, Ark. In 1942, she and her mother caught the train in Oklahoma City and traveled to San Diego to marry her beau, Ben Baker, before he became too involved in World War II. She and Ben moved their family to Fort Worth in 1955. Through the years she faced and conquered every obstacle to maintain a love affair that lasted 71 years. She was the frame that encircled her family and held it tightly. She was a resident of Trinity Terrace, a longtime member of Overton Park Methodist Church and she golfed and played tennis at Diamond Oaks and Ridglea Country clubs. She traveled extensively and she was outgoing, active and could always be found dressed for a casual day at the club. Vera was preceded in death by her son, Ben W. Baker Jr; and her husband, Ben W. Baker. Survivors: Daughters, Penny B. Beal and husband, Skip, Denise Dale and husband, Darrell; grandsons, Cody Baker and wife, Amy G. Baker, and Wayne Estes; great-grandson, Alex Baker; great-granddaughter, Shelby Baker.

PRAYERS AND BLESSINGS

January 6, 2016

Penny and Denise

I didn't make it to your fathers funeral but I and sending my condolences for your mother. Years ago I worked with Vera in getting her to know the computer. She didn't quite get it but she sure worked hard at all what Ben and I told her. That was so wonderful.
I feel so sorry I didn't make it to your fathers funeral. I am thinking of all the good times we had with your parents such as the time they came all the way to Conroe,TX to play golf with Peggy and I.
Ben was in my first class I taught at TCJC. He took pictures of the class and the goings on. I still have his pictures and view them with fond memories.
You two and Ben and Vera will always be in my memories. Please think of Peggy and I in you minds for ever.

I met Mrs. Baker on the second floor of Trinity Terrace. She was always such a nice person and loved to read a good book before dinner. I will miss seeing her at Trinity Terrace. May she rest in peace.
