Victoria Greene "Vicki" Hudson

1955 - 2016

Victoria "Vicki" Greene Dickerson Hudson passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016. Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood Chapel. Visitation: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Vicki was born Sept. 27, 1955, in Fort Worth. She was a 1974 graduate of Paschal High School and attended Angelo State University in San Angelo. Vicki worked in the restaurant business for many years and owned Bluebonnets Bar and Grill, a popular TCU area watering hole, until 1997. She became a pet sitter after that, before migrating to the Texas Hill Country in 2006, where she settled in her "special place on earth," Bandera. She returned to Fort Worth in 2007 when she married her husband, Rick. Vicki was creative, spunky, outspoken and full of life, always busy and never at a loss for words. But in 2008, she was diagnosed with cardiovascular disease that over time robbed her of vitality and diminished her quality of life. She lived with constant pain that she endured with stoicism and without complaint. Vicki was tough, fought hard and never gave up despite knowing that the odds were against her. She continued to take comfort from two of her greatest passions in life, dogs and tortoises, which she remained committed to until the end. She loved her three grandchildren and delighted in watching them grow in the frequent pictures that came. She provided immeasurable support for her husband, Rick, as they shared their passion for reptile conservation. Through everything Vicki never saw herself as getting old because she felt so young at heart. She was "Forever Young." She was preceded in death by her father, Harmon H. Greene. Survivors: Husband, Rick Hudson of Fort Worth; sons, Sam Dickerson of Fort Worth and Zane Dickerson and wife, Kara, of Houston; mother, Dela Greene of Fort Worth; brothers, Mike Greene of Washington, D.C., and Dwight Greene and wife, Sheila, of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; nieces and a nephew; and a very special cousin, Sara Evans of Waxahachie.
