Virginia Davis Obituary

Virginia Roberts Davis went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at the age of 92 years.
Funeral: A celebration honoring her life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Woodhaven Presbyterian Church, 3650 N. O'Connor Road, Irving, 972-541-0747. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 3 to 4:30 p.m. Friday at Arlington Funeral Home.
Memorials: Woodhaven Presbyterian Church.
Virginia was born Sept. 8, 1917, in Clayton, N.M., but lived most of her life in Fort Worth and the last 15 years in Irving. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother for most of her life. She grew up in Forth Worth, graduated from high school and went to work to help support her widowed mother and younger brother and sister, helping both to graduate from college. Virginia married Bill, the love of her life, in 1941. She was active for over 40 years in Meadowbrook United Methodist Church, was a charter member of Meadowbrook Women's Club, a 50-year member the Eastern Star Chapter 681, a 20-year member of a ladies' sewing club and a member of Woodhaven Christ Care Ministry. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, cooking and playing bridge.
Throughout her life, she set a consistent example of unconditional love, Christian faith, hard work and perseverance for her children and grandchildren. She never missed a birthday or anniversary and loved to be with her family. Virginia will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
She was married for 60 years to William E. "Bill" Davis, who preceded her death in 2001.
Survivors: Children, Linda Lewis of Mansfield and Leonard Davis and wife, Rhonda, of Tyler; grandchildren, Barbara and Kendall Curtis of Cedar Hill, Marcus and Tami Lewis of Mansfield, Bo and Annie Davis of Longview, Stafford and Ashley Davis of Dallas, Blake "Sissy" Davis of New York, Lindsey Davis of Tyler and Hawk Davis of Dallas; and great-grandchildren, Reagan and Dylan Lewis, Cy and Brody Davis and Madisen Curtis.

I knew Virginia only briefly, but my husband's family knew her for many, delightful years. We cherish those memories and pray that you will be her legacy in the years to come.
