Virginia Ruth Vaughan went to be with her Savior after a brief battle with cancer on Sunday June 19, 2011, in Fredericksburg. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Fredericksburg. Interment: 3 p.m. Tuesday in Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood. Schaetter Funeral Home of Fredericksburg is in charge of arrangements. Virginia Ruth Albertson Vaughan was born May 3, 1931, in Lamesa. She grew up in Munday, where she graduated from high school in 1948. In 1951, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Howard Payne College in Brownwood. On May 26, 1952, she married Kenneth Wayne Vaughan. The couple had three children. The family lived in Eden, Eldorado, Comanche and Zephyr. Virginia Ruth was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, one brother; and one sister. Survivors: Her children, Marcella Stives, Kenny Vaughan and Carolyn Polzel; one brother; and one sister.
