So sorry to hear of Wade's passing.
I found out today when I received my TCU Magazine. What a wonderful Christian Man! He was a great boss when I worked with him as a dietitian for the Fort Worth Independent School District in 1951-1952. His first wife, Thelma, and your Mom helped to give a baby shower for me just before my first son was born in August 1952. I knew Wade a lot earlier because of my parents George (elder) and Grace Goad who were members at Rosemont Church of Christ at the time of their deaths. When I was a teenager there were four of us girls that would go to Riverside Church of Christ when there was a Sunday afternoon singing and we would sing as a quartet. We had so much fun!!! I know the family has a lot of wonderful memories and I do also and have been reminiscing every since I received this In Memoriam article. Bill we have heard you preach several wonderful sermons and was wondering where you were now. It is hard to keep up with you. You will all be added to my prayer list. Much Love and God Bless You All!!! Nada

I would like to thank those who have already posted such nice messages. I am Wade's elder daughter, so I observed him at close range for over 60 years! He was my personal role model, which is why I requested that we play "The Wind Beneath My Wings" at his funeral service. He was the wind beneath the wings of all of his children and his two wonderful wives. One of his wives, our mother, was faithfully beside him for over 50 years before she preceded him to heaven. His second wife, Lazell, devoted herself to his care with great love during his last years. He was a man of integrity who influenced thousands of people over his lifetime for good. He loved the Lord and the Lord's Body, the church. Because he had lived through the Great Depression, he stressed education for all of his kids. All of us had some college, and three of us have post-graduate degrees, largely because of his influence and support. He lived his last difficult days with dignity. Nobody is perfect, and he was not. But I could wish that everyone could have a Dad like my Dad. Thanks again for the notes on this guest book!

A parable of Immortality
I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze
and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength,
and I stand and watch until at last she hangs
like a speck of white cloud
just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says,
“There she goes!”
Gone Where?
Gone from my sight…that is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar
as she was when she left my side
and just as able to bear her load of living freight
to the place of destination.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at the moment
when someone at my side says,
“There she goes!”
there are other eyes watching her coming…
and other voices ready to take up the glad shout…
“Here she comes!”

My family knew the Banowsky's when I was 5 years old and we lived in Mineral Wells, TX. My mother and father were Afton and Jewel Smith, and my brother was Jimmy Smith. We played with Dick, Bill and Nancy. My mom and dad were good friends of the Banowsky's and we attended church with them. I now attend Webb Chapel Church of Christ in Farmers Branch, but did not know that Marty was his daughter.

The world has lost a great man this week. I always thought he was one of the nicest men I had ever met. I was a member at Midtown for years before the church moved. Mr. Banowsky is looking down on all of us left to keep him in our hearts and memories.
