The bishop's final celebration: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at Heavenly Gospel Church of God in Christ, 3134 Stalcup Road, Superintendent Floyd G. Taylor host pastor and Apostle Johnnie Smith Jr. of Joy Tabernacle Holiness Church in Aurora, Colo., eulogist. Burial: Skyvue Memorial Gardens. Visitation: noon to 5 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Gregory W. Spencer Funeral Directors; the family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. at Bailey Temple Arising True Holiness Church, 4969 Miller Ave.
Bishop Wallace Bailey Jr. was the founder of Arising Church of God in Christ in 1976. In 1997 the Arising True Holiness Organization was established, renaming the church Bailey Temple True Holiness. In 1997, he also became the presiding prelate of the Arising True Holiness Organization.
Bishop Bailey was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence, Douglas and L.J. Bailey; and sister, Peggy Sue Standmire.
Survivors: His loving wife of 42 years, Mary Bailey; daughter, Pamela Dial and husband, Billy; brothers, James E. Bailey and Donald R. Bailey; sisters, Corine Gadderson, Dorothy Lang, Katherine Murray, Patsy Standmire, Josephine Bailey and Georgia Peoples; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives; and the Bailey Temple Arising True Holiness Church family.
