Carl Meeds
Carl Meeds (Pop), 93 passed away at his home on Tuesday April April 30, 2024 after a short battle with MDS. Carl was surrounded by his son David Meeds, his daughter Linda Lester and granddaughter Dulcey Lester and his great granddaughters Devika and Sudeva. Carl was the much loved husband of Carol Meeds for 50 years who preceded him in 2001.
Carl Meeds was the first son of Oliver and Bella Meeds born in Lima, Montana born on September 3,1930 he was the oldest of 5 children. Carl is survived by Glen Meeds, Helen Welborn, and Albert Meeds. Carl was preceded in death by his sister Louise Hager. He grew up in Dillon, Armstead and Lima MT. Carl graduated Lima High School in 1949 and worked for a short time on the United Pacific Railroad. He met and married Carol Alley in Dillon, Mt. on January 17, 1951, where they started their much loved family. He is survived by his four children Carla Eder, David Meeds, Linda Lester and Alan Meeds and his nine Grandchildren, and his many Great- Grandchildren. Carl and Carol moved to Great Falls, MT. in 1956 where they lived until 1967 when they moved when they moved to San Mateo, California for job opportunities at the Air National Guard and a career at United Airlines as an Airline Mechanic. Carl advanced to a Senior Specialist - Engineering at United Airlines and retired in 1995. Carl retired from the Air National Guard with an Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. Carl and Carol took up Lapidary, traveling to many places collecting rocks and semi-precious stones, created jewelry for friends and family. Carl enjoyed volunteer work, he was a docent at Filoli Gardens and learned about different pants and flowers. Carl's favorite plant was his Yellow Trumpet Bush, Carl volunteered at Hiller Aviation where he helped build some of the airplanes on display. Carl loved his dogs Scruffy and Ralphy which he took on long walks. Carl loved talking with his many grandchildren.
A Memorial Service took place at Neptune Society 1645 El Camino Real, Belmont, California 94002 on June 15 at 11:00 a.m. and a Reception directly after at 1:30 p.m. at Twin Pines Manor. Address: 10 Twin Pines Lane, Belmont, California 94002
